Publisher's summary

A terrible darkness has fallen upon Jacob Weisz’s beloved Germany. The Nazi regime, under the leadership of Adolf Hitler, has surged to power and now hold Germany by the throat. All non-Aryans - especially Jews like Jacob and his family - are treated like dogs.

When tragedy strikes during one terrible night of violence, Jacob flees and joins rebel forces working to undermine the regime. But after a raid goes horribly wrong, Jacob finds himself in a living nightmare - trapped in a crowded, stinking car on the train to the Auschwitz death camp.

As World War II rages and Hitler begins implementing his "final solution" to systematically and ruthlessly exterminate the Jewish people, Jacob must rely on his wits and a God he’s not sure he believes in to somehow escape from Auschwitz and alert the world to the Nazi’s atrocities before Fascism overtakes all of Europe. The fate of millions hangs in the balance.

Compelling story of an awful time

I had never read much about the concentration camps in Germany during World War II. This book was a good way to enter that horrible time as it was clearly written (though fictionalized history) but saved the reader from graphic, horrific details. What was recounted left the imagination open to fill in details of the mind blowing hatred that was left unspoken. I loved the thread of Hope that Rosenberg wove throughout the story. I highly recommend this book and I particularly enjoyed the audio version.

This book is a great one for those that are interested in WW2. The narrator did a good job, and kept me interested the entire way through!

Emotionally Entertaining

Can't help but root for the characters involved and reflect on how events similar to the ones betrayed were endured...
It was an all around great listen, one of my favorite narrators ...

Escape

The Auschwitz Escape
By: Joel C. Rosenberg

A horrible time in history, but the resistance movement kept on working to try and stop Hitler. The pace my have been slow, but I'm sure escape plans took a good amount of time to plan. Even then there was no guarantee of success.

A gripping story that makes the listener think of what millions of people went through.

The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed. : Christopher Lane takes the listener into the heart. of the story.

Couldn't finish!

In all honesty I could not finish this book!! I started got past a few chapters and my heart wrenched and I could !listen to no more. The pain and suffering these innocents of war was not a good listen for me. So therefore I cannot not recommend it.

Impossibly good and incredibly powerful

To be succinct, "The Auschwitz Escape" reads like a novel. It's riveting and I find myself making up excuses to drive to far away places or do chores just to make it a little bit further. The book doe an incredibly good job of drawing you in and personalizing the experiences of prisoners at Auschwitz.

This isn't JUST a historical account, though. The individuals in the story are incredibly interesting. The book is so well-written and incredible that it sounds like it should also be fiction (it's not).

I can't recommend this one enough.

Excellent!

An emotional journey that leads the listener through history in the most tangible way possible. My daughter and I love Joel C. Rosenberg but are especially fond of this story and the characters. The narration is superb as well.
