#1 NEW YORK TIMES BEST SELLER If you thought Mitch McDeere was in trouble in The Firm, wait until you meet Kyle McAvoy, The Associate

Kyle McAvoy grew up in his father’s small-town law office in York, Pennsylvania. He excelled in college, was elected editor-in-chief of The Yale Law Journal, and his future has limitless potential.

But Kyle has a secret, a dark one, an episode from college that he has tried to forget. The secret, though, falls into the hands of the wrong people, and Kyle is forced to take a job he doesn’ t want—even though it’s a job most law students can only dream about.

Three months after leaving Yale, Kyle becomes an associate at the largest law firm in the world, where, in addition to practicing law, he is expected to lie, steal, and take part in a scheme that could send him to prison, if not get him killed.

With an unforgettable cast of characters and villains—from Baxter Tate, a drug-addled trust fund kid and possible rapist, to Dale, a pretty but seemingly quiet former math teacher who shares Kyle’s “cubicle” at the law firm, to two of the most powerful and fiercely competitive defense contractors in the country—and featuring all the twists and turns that have made John Grisham the most popular storyteller in the world, The Associate is vintage Grisham.

Not that bad

I read some of the other reviews before I listened to. It was a lot better than I expected. Sure the ending kind of drops you but it leaves you wanting more. That is not a bad thing. I enjoyed it and was glad I listened to it.

Too many open questions

Great warnings and issues to consider if you're planning to go to law school. However the story left too many unanswered questions. It's like the author was in a hurry to finish and was setting up for a Part 2 of this story. I didn't understand the rush to end the story, Entertaining but left unfinished.

An Entertaining Book

Grisham, as always, has a wonderful way of getting you to feel as if you already know his characters. I enjoyed this book, there were a few slow spots, but over all it was very entertaining. The ending was too short, I really wanted another chance encounter with Benny in the end. And may be it's because he's a guy, but he never tells you how the romance plays out!

Good story - bad ending

It's a shame . . . I absolutely LOVE Grisham stories - I usually can't put them down. However, this one's ending left a lot to be desired and kept the rating from being a 5.

p.s. Coming from a professional background, I can say that much of what he said about that culture/environment is accurate.

Intrigue and spying!!!

Enough to open your eyes, enough to make you want to finish. Great ending too.

Normal Grisham

Just another Grisham to read. They are all the same, but I buy them all and read them all.
