Publisher's summary

A sunken secret. A missing woman. A race against time.

Former SAS major Ben Hope is relaxing at his home in Normandy when he hears the worst news of his life. His ex-girlfriend, Dr Brooke Marcel, has been kidnapped. Racing against the clock, Ben's frantic search for Brooke leads him from Ireland to the Spanish mountains and the rainforests of Peru.

What is the mysterious link between the kidnapping, the salvage of a sunken 16th-century Spanish warship and the secret activities of its wealthy discoverer? As the trail of wreckage and mayhem intensifies, Ben soon uncovers a web of intrigue, corruption and brutal murder. But will he be too late to find Brooke alive?

Never a dull moment

Where does The Armada Legacy rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Maybe just below the top. Great characters, lots of twists and turns in the story and action, action, action. Maybe just a little to stretched out, that is why 4 stars.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Ben Hope, of course. He is so full of ingenuity, totally ready to take on anything that gets in his way, but he also has a gentle side to his nature which peeks out from time to time. He's no perfect angel, but is a real champion for those who have been victimized by the really creepy villain.

What does Jack Hawkins bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I really liked his narration. He is so skilled at different accents. I just wish Scott Mariani's audio publishers would stick to one narrator. I've listened to 3 of his books and they are all narrated by different narrators. They were all good, but each has his own style and I think for a repeat character it is better to have one voice "being" the main character.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Not sure

Any additional comments?

I really like the Ben Hope character and the adventures are quite varied and always interesting. I do hope that Audible will get more of Scott Mariani's books (he has quite a few out) on audio. They are never boring and Scott Mariani does great research background for each novel. Besides, they are a nice change from Jack Reacher, but similar in lots of respects.
