Publisher's summary

Every politician has a secret. And when the daughter of a politically connected family is kidnapped abroad, America's new president will agree to anything - even a deadly and ill-advised rescue plan - in order to keep his secret hidden.

A new administration and a new approach to dealing with America's enemies have left covert counterterrorism operative Scot Harvath without a job. But when American doctor Julia Gallo is kidnapped in Afghanistan, the terms of her ransom leave the president with only one course of action. In a dangerous assignment that the United States government will deny any knowledge of, Scot Harvath must secretly infiltrate Kabul's notorious Policharki Prison and free the man the kidnappers demand as ransom -- al-Qaeda mastermind, Mustafa Khan.

But when Harvath arrives, he quickly learns that there is more to the kidnapping than anyone dares to admit. And as the subterfuge is laid bare, Harvath must examine his own career of hunting down and killing terrorists, and ask himself if he has what it takes to help one of the world's worst go free.

Brimming with the kind of ripped-from-the-headlines authenticity Brad Thor's internationally bestselling novels are known for, The Apostle doubles down on the blockbuster success of The Last Patriot and reaffirms Thor's status as the master of the political thriller.

Still breathing? Take another thrill ride with superagent Scot Harvath.

New narrator

I love the character of Scot T. Harvath. However this new guys voice acting makes Scot sound like a punk. Please go back to the original narrator.

Absolutely one of best

Read this book...you will find an amazing story based in historic truth. How many of us know that T. Jefferson was the 1st US Presidents to fight Islamic terrorist? He was and here is a fabulous story woven around that truth and today's world events.

this particular book is not bad but starts pretty darn slow and also some of the narration I wish it was better.

Traitor or Patriot

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this audiobook to a friend because it's a book with the lead character, Scot Harvath, who is characterized as a true patriot. The heroics attached to all missions center around love for his country and his willingness to endanger his life as a man who love the USA. I would encourage my friend to read the previous novels in the series so that said friend would have a better understanding of Scot Harvath as a man and a soldier. The novels are suspenseful, exciting and have plots that can make you anxious and want to finish the books all in one sitting. The character's are well developed. The books give insight into the war that American's are now fighting in Afghanistan.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Yes, the plot did keep me on the edge of my seat. Scot Harvath was no longer working for the POTUS because he refused to assist him. He had to plan his own covert counterterrorisn mission. A mother wants her daughter, Dr. Julia Gallo, rescued from an Afghanistan prison. Harvath has to do something he has never done before. In order to rescue Dr. Julia Gallo, he has to find and free al-Queda mastermind, Mustafa Khan as ransom to the kidnappers of Dr. Julia Gallo. This book is titled, The Apostle, he will be the leader of a new mission, a mission that goes against everything he has ever believed in. However, there are other character's Scot can depend on to help him through this mission. He doesn't have to stand alone. The ending is fulfilling.

Which scene was your favorite?

My favorite scene was when Dr. Julia Gallo was rescued from her captors.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The moment in the book that moved me was when Droid (sic), fought other's inappropriate actions against Dr. Julia Gallo, while she was in her prison cell.

Any additional comments?

There were many negative responses about The Apostle, because Scot Harvath did accept a request to rescue Dr. Julia Gallo without the backing of the POTUS. Remember, the POTUS refused to take any responsibility for Scot's mission and would not help him. The POTUS didn't tell Harvath that he couldn't do the mission, his solution was to remove himself. My point of view is that the POTUS was the traitor. I felt that the book was well written and explanatory why Harvath accepted the counterterrorism mission. Although reader's felt that Scot Harvath would now be considered a traitor to his country, if the book is read without preconceptions, his loyalty remains unblemished. He LOVES AMERICA.
