Awesome

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Can Alan Cumming just read all of the Sherlock Holmes stories? This one was fantastic. I love Sherlock, I love this particular story and I love this version.

Holmes, Doyle, and Cummings are the top of the mark

Alan Cummings narration of this classic Sherlock Holmes case is outstanding. Many of us have read the Original Sherlock Holmes cases by Arthur Conan Doyle. This short but quick moving case is Doyle at his best. But this performance makes it new. Cummings makes it come alive before your eyes. Cumming’s accents are perfect. Unlike many narrators, he uses vocal inflection, varied volume and as appropriate, believable emotion to perform the tale. Well done sir.

Classic story - classic narrator!

This is one of Sherlock Holmes best known short stories, perhaps because of its tie-in to the Christmas season. It is a fun story that is expertly narrated by Alan Cumming. I've read it a dozen times in print and have heard several renditions in audio form. Cumming's work is the best recorded version I've heard. I highly recommend.

Great narrator, classic story and wonderful music.

A great narration was provided by a great actor. I had a pipe along side as I listened just as Me. Holmes would. I recommend this reading to anyone.

Oh that Alan!

Sublime to hear Alan Cumming presenting Holmes in this odd, short tale by Arthur Conan Doyle. The tale is laid out and then rises to the dramatic climax with the thief recounting. Very good.

A well known Sherlock Holmes but still very enjoyable and a good performance albeit not special.

The narrator's vocal emphases was wrong for Holmes

Although this version was free to me, the narration bugged me the whole time.
