Publisher's summary

The Women's Murder Club faces an unspeakable horror in an irresistible hospital and courtroom thriller by number one best-selling author James Patterson.

Somebody dies.

A young mother is recuperating in a San Francisco hospital when she is suddenly gasping for breath. The call button fails to bring help in time. The hospital's doctors, some of the best in the nation, are completely mystified by her death. How did this happen?

Apocalypse nears.

This is not the first such case at the hospital. Just as patients are about to be released with a clean bill of health, their conditions take a devastating turn for the worse. Accompanied by the newest member of the Women's Murder Club, Yuki Castellano, Lieutenant Lindsay Boxer probes deeper into the incidents. Could these cases just be appalling coincidences? Or is a maniac playing God with people's lives? When someone close to the Women's Murder Club begins to exhibit the same frightening symptoms, Lindsay fears no one is safe.

The fifth horseman rides.

It is a wild race against time as Lindsay's investigation reveals a hospital administration determined to shield its reputation at all costs. And while the hospital wages an explosive court battle that grips the entire nation, Lindsay and the Women's Murder Club hunt for a merciless killer among its esteemed medical staff.

The newest addition to the top-selling new mystery series takes the Women's Murder Club to the most terrifying heights of suspense they have yet to encounter. The 5th Horseman proves once again that James Patterson is "the page-turningest author in the game right now" (San Francisco Chronicle).

The book is too short.

I love this series. This is not the best one of the series, but still good. I was pleased to see more of Jacoby in this book. He's an interesting character who doesn't get enough notice usually. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars across the board is the music they've added. I guess it's suppressed to make it more intriguing, but it's just annoying!

Women's Murder Club book 5

The continuing story about 4 friends who support each other through homicides and other deaths. The character development over the 5 books has been good. I can see each ones personalities and the story lines are decent. The books are a little on the short side but they don't fill it with a bunch of not important stuff.

meh

felt more like a love story and girly sit down with home girls. I didnt care much for the book at all. I started reading it so I felt compelled to finish it to move on to the next book. The 3rd 4th and 5th books of the womens murder club fell short in my book

Keeps You Guessing!

James Patterson has a way of throwing you off the trail of the real "culprit"....I was anxious to get to the end to find out the identity of the "Nightstalker" only to find out I had already guessed it! The "Fifth" in the series was just a little bit disappointing....I felt Patterson failed to tie up a few loose ends that he had introduced in the book. All and all a good listen and I will continue with the series.

Not the best

Of the 5 books so far this has been my least favorite. I hope they back to how the series started.

Lindsay is my favorite detective

Listening to the book in my 11h flight from Europe really helped me to overcome boring movies. I just love the narrator and the main character. The story is fast, not exactly predictable (which is good).
Recommended for people that like the series.

I'll keep on reading as long as he keeps writing

This is a great book with an interesting plot but the hospital part reminds me of a true story that was in the news years ago about a Dr. that went from hospital to hospital... Can’t remember where or when… Maybe someday it will be on “Mystery Detectives” and I’ll say, “that’s it”. This book was not quite the same as that case but it did keep me on the edge of my seat as I read.

Just like in real life there is more than one thing going on at the same time that are not related. In this book Lieutenant Lindsay Boxer and her best friend, Claire, the medical examiner, are working on one case that involves young girls who are suffocated, raped and then dressed in expensive clothes and placed in the front seat of cars.

While the other half of the Women’s Murder Club, Cindy, the reporter, and Yuki, the lawyer, are sitting in on the trail of the San Francisco Municipal Hospital which involves the deaths of patients who die from being given incorrect medications. A self-absorbed, obnoxious Dr. is the main character is this scenario. (This is the one that sounds familiar to me.) Not involved in the trail is the fact the Yuki’s mother died there for no apparent reason right after the trail started and, thus, she is glued and hates the Dr. Also, not included in the trail is the mystery of the buttons found on the eyes of the deceased.

This was a great read and all is solved in the end BUT the murder investigation of the young women ended too abruptly although is was shocking and not expected.

Unbelievable was the development of the young child’s story whose parents were not allowed to stay overnight with him in the hospital. That is just not done.

As the trail moved on, I felt the part of Yuki was underdeveloped since her mother had died in that hospital and under that Doctor’s care.

I love the Women's Murder Club and I especially like the short, fast paced, action packed chapters. The short chapters allow me to put the book down, get something done and then pick it up again as a reward.

Love Patterson, loved this book and will keep on reading his tales.
