Publisher's summary

When a rare $5,000 bill arrives in the mail, interior decorator Madison Night knows it's a message from her past. In happier times, she once joked that she could be bought for $5,000 - how could she deny a bill with her name on it? Suspecting the bill indicates trouble, she consults a numismatist. They set up a meet, but upon arrival she finds an abandoned office, a scared dog...and a dead body in the kitchen. The twist? The victim isn't the numismatist; it's a John Doe. The police, led by Lt. Tex Allen, are on the case. But before long, Madison uncovers a kidnapping plot, a unique counterfeit operation, and the true price of her own independence.

I’m loving this series

Diane Vallere has crafted such a wonderful series that I just can’t seem get enough of and this follows a pattern I just can’t avoid. What happens when you purchase the lady in the series? One of two things happen, you have to impatiently wait for the author to release a new installment. The second thing that happens, (this is the one that disturbs me the most) you discover that the author is no longer writing. I’m happy to find neither of my biggest fears will occur. Ms Vallere, if you’re reading this, I am a fan and you don’t just write, you craft! Susie Berneis gave a wonderful performance as she brought it all to life.

Pretty Good

This is a nice cozy mystery. Madison is an entertaining character. sometimes she a bit thick, but, overall she's likable. I don't care for her relationship with Tex. I'm hoping Hudson will come back.
