Publisher's summary

A stunning breakout novel from the New York Times bestselling author of Still Missing in which a woman is convicted of her sister's murder.

Toni Murphy was eighteen when she and her boyfriend, Ryan, were wrongly convicted of the murder of her younger sister. Now she is thirty-four and back in her hometown, working every day to forge and adjust to a new life on the outside. She's doing everything in her power to avoid violating her parole and going back to prison. But nothing is making that easy – not Ryan, who is convinced he can figure out the truth; not her mother, who clearly doubts Toni's innocence; and certainly not the group of women who made Toni's life miserable in high school and who may have darker secrets than anyone realizes. Before Toni can truly move on, she must risk everything to find out the truth and clear her name.

Loved It!

I’ve read a few of Chevy Stevens books, and I’ve loved every single one. There is something about the way that she writes that just drags me into her stories. I felt like I could see each character and feel the emotions surrounding them. This book was fabulous. I loved the main characters and plot twists. I found myself rooting, angry, sobbing and smiling. I definitely recommend this book.

Choked up

This was one of the most moving books I've had the pleasure of listening to in a long time. I literally got choked up several times throughout the story hearing the injustice that these poor kids went through. The author made me feel like this has probably happened an untold number of times in Anytown, USA. The narration was top notch also. I could not stop listening! Read this book. Listen to this book. You will not regret it.

Author does it again!

This was a an amazing story and with 700+ audiobooks under my belt I thought the narrator completely fit the character of the book. Yes, she sounds nasally at times but it works. Great suspense, I wish there was a second book.

An old favorite

Seventeen years ago Toni and her boyfriend were convicted of the murder of her younger sister Nicole. Now on parole and forbidden to contact each other, they want to find the real killers.
THAT NIGHT is thriller writer Chevy Stevens' latest masterpiece. Alternating chapters between the present and past, Toni's narration grows from rebellious, self-centered teenager to wounded a middle-aged woman, determined to start her life anew, facing former high school bullies, a mom who doubts her innocence, and an unforgiving small town, convinced of her guilt. Stevens has given us a flawed and not always likable heroine with a knack for finding trouble, but Toni is still easy to root for. With unexpected twists and turns THAT NIGHT kept me reading late into the night, hoping for a good outcome, fearing more tragedy.
I rarely give 5 stars, so when I do it means I will reread the story and recommend it overwhelmingly to others. If you haven't yet discovered Chevy Stevens, go directly to your bookstore or amazon, do not pass go, do not collect $200.

Couldn't put it down.

Any additional comments?

I listened to or read all of Chevy Stevens' books so far and found this as good or better than the others. It kept my attention 100% of the time and I couldn't wait to listen to it. I also found the narration excellent. I can't wait for the next one. I loved the character growth and what I learned about life in prison and what parole exactly is. The romantic side of the novel was wonderful as well. I am sorry I finished it!

Canadian New Black?

I have enjoyed most of Chevy Steven's thrillers, they had unique setting, rural Vancouver Island, and she presents difficult families fairly and compellingly. Toni is released fifteenth years after being convicted of her sister's murder and wants to restart her life more than she wants clear her name. Her (ex)boyfriend, Ryan, who was convicted for the and crime insists they must clear their names by finding out what happened that night.
This novel tiks all the well boxes: well written, well paced, well characterised. Great fun.
