Publisher's summary

From the coauthor of the number-one New York Times best seller American Sniper comes a heart-pounding military thriller in which the fabled Special Ops unit is activated to stop a group of terrorists from launching "suitcase" nukes somewhere in America.

When Chechen terrorists manage to smuggle a Cold War-era Russian nuke across the Mexican-American border, the president is forced to reactivate the only unit capable of stopping them: Navy SEAL sniper Gil Shannon and his brash team of SEALs and Delta Force fighters. First introduced in Sniper Elite: One-Way Trip, hailed by Publishers Weekly as a "meaty thriller" with "snappy dialogue and well-timed humor", Shannon and his team were run out of the military after defying direct orders and instead choosing to save the life of one of their own. In Target America, Gil and his team, many of whom had gone rogue, are reunited as an off-the-books Special Ops unit that must race against the clock to save the country from nuclear destruction.

Number-one New York Times best-selling author Scott McEwen once again delivers a gripping and fast-paced adventure that illuminates the shadow world of clandestine military operations.

A book of Duty, Honor, and Love of country

Great story. This is a book of Duty, Honor, and Love of country.

I found myself on pins & needles. Every time I thought it was going to end I was wrong. Every turn lead to a new exciting chapter for the SOF, Navy and Marine characters.

Good story, good characters, good narration, what more can you ask for. After traveling through the Southern States this year, I KNOW there are people out there like this. God Bless America!

If Only

Great Story and excellent narration. If only our politicians acted accordingly. We know our military does.

Filling my Mitch Rapp Void

Different from the Vince Flynn books, these books feel more like first person accounts. It's clear that this series of books is well researched, and artfully told. The mundane dialog between the characters feels authentic, and familIar to me. The characters are memorable, you get to like them. These books are not Mitch Rapp books, but they fill the void. I would recommend this series.

Solid 5 star military suspense novel!

Scott McEwen's Sniper Elite series is one of the best. Ex-special forces Colonel Gil Shannon is the the protagonist in Target America as he is in the other two novels in the series. Old Soviet suitcase nuclear bombs in the hands of terrorists inside the US is the subject of this novel.

Book 4 in this great series is scheduled for release on July 12, 2016. It is not yet listed in the Coming Soon section of Audible.

Couldnt put it down! I had to know

Would you listen to Target America again? Why?

I'm already listening again because I was so caught up in the story that I'm sure I missed details, particularly character development details that will help me to know them better. Literally, I couldn't put it down. After staying up all night, I was about 40 minutes from the end, the sun coming up and and I was fading. I unplugged, set the alarm, and got up 2 hours later to finish the book before breakfast.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Target America?

There were so many, I can't pick one. This is a fast moving book, believable and set in our time. With the reality of terrorism threats and attacks, we are there. The setting is now. The author drew me in, at times my heart was racing along with the characters. Unlike a lot of series, where it takes a takes the 1st couple of books to develop the characters, to give them dimension, the main characters were believable in book one and enhanced in Target America. The author wasn't afraid to make them real, including flaws and imperfections - great job. Chasing the nuclear threat the heroes made mistakes, assumptions, good guesses that weren't always correct. The author didn't shy away from death of characters that we liked or didnt, giving a huge dose of realism to the danger willing faced by our patriots every day. You know the book is good when a character takes a belly shot & your thoughts jump to his wife and kids. Moreso, when you find yourself wondering how close we were to the event that inspired the book....... surely it couldn't just be imaginary. Really?

What about Brian Hutchison’s performance did you like?

Realistic. Conveying the frustration, anger, resolve mixed with an occasional bad joke or smart alecky remark, they were performed well.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Kept me up all night!

Any additional comments?

Can I preorder the next book now? With almost 200 books in my Audible library, I listen a lot but seldomg review. Target America is better read after book 1, but can stand alone. From Clancy, Ludlum, Baldacci, Child, Flynn, Thor - I read them all. Scott McEwen is a breath of fresh air, I'm a fan.

GREAT SEAL TEAM ACTION READ

Exciting action and suspense book with
great use of real time technology. Seal team action is always an interesting read when the main characters free themselves from traditional military discipline and utilize innovative solutions for impossible challenges.
