Publisher's summary

From the coauthor of the number-one New York Times best seller American Sniper comes a heart-pounding military thriller in which the fabled Special Ops unit is activated to stop a group of terrorists from launching "suitcase" nukes somewhere in America.

When Chechen terrorists manage to smuggle a Cold War-era Russian nuke across the Mexican-American border, the president is forced to reactivate the only unit capable of stopping them: Navy SEAL sniper Gil Shannon and his brash team of SEALs and Delta Force fighters. First introduced in Sniper Elite: One-Way Trip, hailed by Publishers Weekly as a "meaty thriller" with "snappy dialogue and well-timed humor", Shannon and his team were run out of the military after defying direct orders and instead choosing to save the life of one of their own. In Target America, Gil and his team, many of whom had gone rogue, are reunited as an off-the-books Special Ops unit that must race against the clock to save the country from nuclear destruction.

Number-one New York Times best-selling author Scott McEwen once again delivers a gripping and fast-paced adventure that illuminates the shadow world of clandestine military operations.

Good Story

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Because it could happen to us.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Because our fighting men take a back seat and basically or are second class citizens, nevertheless, when the rubber meets the road you can expect stellar performance. As far as the depiction of the seal community in the book, I believe this selfless service to be very close to real life.

Which scene was your favorite?

The only part of the story line that was a redo is the part at the very end where they helo the nuke out to sea. Vince Flynn did this in one of his books.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I will say that it does move your emotions.

Any additional comments?

Scott is right up there with Vince. George Guidall is my all time favorite reader.

Better than Book #1!

Any additional comments?

Another in the series of books that finally matched my interest in Vince Flynn's books. The first was superb, this one is better! I can't wait to start #3. Please get to writing....we need more in this series!

Keeps getting better

If you like military action thrillers, the Sniper Elite Series is for you. I really like this genre of books and this series has been the best I've listened to. It really pulls you in and keeps your attention. I listen to audio books primarily while commuting. I find my mind drifting when listening to most audio books, but not this series.

A hit well above my expectation

one off the best military novel series I've read in a while. Certainly in par with some of the Robert Ludlum or Tom Clancy novels.

You won't be disappointed !

Just finished listening for the 2nd time.

Just as good the second time. I found myself sitting in my garage not wanting to turn it off. The story, characters, narration, and the all-to-real possibility of it really happening all combine to make this one of my favorite books in my library of hundreds.

Grit, honor, and suspense!

As a fan of military thrillers and assassin books, I'm enjoying the Sniper Elite series. Gil Shannon doesn't have quite the yuge personality or trouble past that some other protags of similar books have (thinking of Court Gentry of Mark Greaney's Gray Man series, or Victor from Tom Woods' Victor the Assassin series), but he's genuine, honorable, and likable. In this installment, I especially fell in love with his wife, Marie, who kicked some major terrorist butt, and their dog, Oso, who is a real American hero in his own right. The secondary characters, from the military chiefs to the bad guys, are every bit as well developed as the primaries. The battle scenes are gritty and suspenseful -- people (and sometimes animals such as horses) are wounded, maimed, or killed just as they would be in real life. Narrator Brian Hutchinson has quite the dry style, but his dialogue passages are very good and I'm starting to get used to his delivery. I had a tear in my eye at the end -- extremely well written, and to me, at least, it seems as if the author is extremely well informed and knows his stuff. I'm definitely continuing on with the series.
