Publisher's Summary

When you're going through hell, keep going....

One man is on the hunt, and one man intends to take his liberty....

Only one will succeed....

Imprisoned for the attempted murder of a federal agent, former homicide detective Gabe Quinn is keen to make amends for his mistakes. So when a gruesome murder forces his freedom, he is determined to do everything in his power to bring the killer to justice and prove himself to the FBI.

But the road to hell is paved with good intentions, and the killer has something else in mind for Gabe Quinn - something that will raze everything he knows to the ground.

Drawn into a desperate chase against the killer's deadline, Gabe is forced to stand accountable for the decisions of his past and face the ultimate question: Could you give your life to save someone else?

Author's note: The events in this book follow on from those in Killing Hope and Crossing Lines. To get the most out of the ongoing back story, I recommend listening to the first two books before enjoying this one. That way the events will have a fuller meaning, and the sub-plots will make more sense.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes. It happens to be a really good book. Lots of convoluted psychotic relationships, great character development and interesting plot that is believable.

What does David Doersch bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

After listening to three Gabe Quinn books narrated by David Doersch, he IS the voice of Quinn. I hope he will continue to narrate these books.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

THE END! And WOW what an ending it is!

    Any additional comments?

I would suggest reading/listening to the first two books prior to this one as the characters build on the previous books and although some background is given on familial and other relationships I can see where this book could get confusing without. The first two are excellent books also, each ending with a cliff hanger that will leave you wanting more. This book however has an ending that leaves you absolutely dumbstruck!! I cannot wait for the next book and can only imagine how Keith Houghton could possibly top this one. Very talented author. I Highly Recommend this book.
Thank You for reading this and if you find it helpful please let me know. I like letting other people know if I think a book is worthwhile and I certainly purchase many based on reviews by others.

Great ending to the series of the undertaker. Hoping we will see more Gabe Quinn books though. If you havent read the first two Killing Hope & crossing lines then you must get them first. Although some parts are a bit winded going back over the first two books plots it is still a must read.
I just know there will be another Gabe Quinn book so I am not so patiently waiting for it.
I am now going to move onto the next book written by this guy NO coming back..

"Lots of trite-ness and repetition, but..."

...I still enjoyed this book, as well as the other two in the series. Houghton does a good job of blending material from the first and second books, but it helps if you start from the first. This last one leaves the reader hanging on one key issue, which sets the stage for a fourth book.

An avid reader, demanding of the story, characters and narrator. Mysteries and historical fiction are my favorites.

    "All Action, Poor Narrative"

Gabe Quinn Book 3: This book reminds me of a good car chase. But a car chase is just one part of a good movie or good book. In this book, MOST of the writing describes feverish action, near-death incidences, fights to the finish, explosions, etc. The STORY is lacking.

I still like Gabe Quinn, the character, and I was happy to get some resolution to the events described in books 1 and 2. The narrator improved his British accent, and his other voices (varying voices for Americans) were very good.

I admire the author's use of descriptive phrases; often one if his choice phrases has made me laugh out loud. For example, one of the bad guys had a big, beefy face that looked like folded wet laundry. (Or something like that - I wish I had written it down.)

Mr. Houghton's narrative style is extreme, and I am tired of the pattern: whoever seems to be a good guy is not, whoever seems to have been killed is still alive, and whenever a sensible course of action suggests itself, Quinn will do the opposite. I think I have had enough. If Mr. Houghton writes another book, and the ending to this one indicates he will, I will not buy it.

    "Amazing Again"

What can I say? This Gabe Quinn is an outstanding character. He goes through so many ups and downs twists and turns I'm finding that I can't wait to see what life is going to throw at him next. Things are not always what they seem and I love it.
