Publisher's summary

Two young children disappear from their East Side home in New York City, their nanny killed in cold blood. As Lieutenant Eve Dallas begins to unravel the crime scene and search for Henry and Gala MacDermit, she's drawn into the twisted mind of a kidnapper who will stop at nothing to take revenge. Horrific threats concerning the brother and sister hit far too close to home for Eve, drawing her back into memories of her own tortured childhood.

But Eve knows that there's no time to waste on the past, and with every passing hour her determination to bring the children safely home strengthens. Eve and her team find themselves following an electronic breadcrumb trail left by a boy desperate to escape the evil witch. Their investigation into the kidnapper's sordid past reveals violent coercion, ritualistic killings, and chilling bloodlust - making her terrifying plans for the children abundantly clear.

Another excellent story

If you could sum up Taken in Death in three words, what would they be?

Thrilling and touching.

What did you like best about this story?

Love getting involved with the characters and feeling as if l know them.

What does Susan Ericksen bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Susan Ericksen brings the characters to life for me...gives them all personalities-Pheney scoffing into scrambled eggs while discussing the case, what a hoot.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Dallas was listening to little Henry trying to wake up his little sister...you could feel Dallas' desperation to find them.

Any additional comments?

I have been hanging out for the next story written by JD Robb and read by Susan Ericksen...they are the best team for audible books...they've spoilt me for other books read. I will only listen to females reading for some reason now. I have read all their books and am going to have to wait again for the next!!!

Suspenseful and entertaining

This is the first book I've read from the death series. As a story, it doesn't pose a problem. However, it probably would have added more to the enjoyment of the book to start from the beginning of the series and know the background of all the main characters. But this was a short and easy read, so it was a quick introduction to a J.D. Robb's book. It's suspenseful and entertaining.

Even Robb's shorts are great

as always very good. Really enjoyed it. Eve and Roark are the best and watching her come a long through this series has been wonderful. Best character development ever.

Short but Exceptional as always

Susan Erikson gives another spectacular performance as Eve Dallas and the gang. J.D. Robb manages to pack all of the excitement, intrigue and mystery of a full length novel into this "short" story. A must read for fans.

Who is J.D. Robb

Most of J.D. Rodd’s books are very entertaining and enjoyable to read. But as I read I find myself wondering on who she is, the stories are in many ways very compassionate and places an emphasis on abused children mainly but a general abuse of people. All these reasons and more make me want to read a biography of J. D. Rodd.

Great short listen.

What did you love best about Taken in Death?

It fits nicely into the series with a futuristic twist on a classic fairy tale.

Have you listened to any of Susan Ericksen’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

After 30+ books, Susan Erickson has all the characters refined to the point of recognition by voice alone.

Any additional comments?

Thoroughly enjoyable.

Dallas to the rescue.

The fascinating connection between twins is prevalent in this story. A fast moving short thriller that had a good premiss. I'm glad this was a short, reading about kidnapping children is not my bag but this was not too bad. Crazy, Silence of the Lamb, occult, genius takes them and it is up to Dallas's team to get them back before the witching hour. A twist makes it even creepier.

Dallas-The Good Witch

Another great book, by J.D. Robb! It kinda showed a little bit of Eve's softer side, since it dealt with children. I love how Roark enjoys working on the cases with her.
