Fiendish al-Qaeda terrorists are planning to rescue their imprisoned WMD expert during the chaos they create with their July 4th destruction of all bridges and tunnels to Manhattan. Now it's up to ex-SEAL Harvath to stop the evil-doers -- and neutralize the diabolical three-foot-tall villain known as "The Troll" who supplies their intelligence.

"If you're the type who enjoys the TV show 24 and other high-octane thrillers, Takedown is the...book for you. Chapters are short, crisp, and cinematic, with the focus on gun-blazing, gut-busting action. (The Tennessean)
I like the book and was surprized by the ending. This book has lots of twists and turns and reminds me of the 24 series of which I am also a fan. If you like Vince Flynn you will like this also. Good solid book.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book from beginning to end. It kept me riveted during my commute. If you liked "License to Kill" or other books of this genre, this one is worth your time. The characters were good and not too over-the-top. The non-stop action was well written - I could see it all in my mind like watching a movie.
This was my first Brad Thor listen and now I do think I will get his other books right away. Scott Harvath, the main character in this book, has apparently has other adventures I need to read about. In TakeDown, Harvath captures an Al-Quaeda baddie and brings him back to the US for interrogation. Soon after, all hell breaks loose when terrorists strike New York City even harder than on 9/11/2001, blowing up bridges, tunnels and buildings and leaving thousands dead and injured. Unlike 9/11, the terrorists aren't suicide bombers, but well armed commandos with a plan, a back-up plan and a goal. Trying to figure out the terrorist's main objective keeps Scott and his hodge podge group of survivors busy. Just when they seem to be making headway, the terrorists have some new trick up their sleeves and manage to evade them. If you have listened to Brad Thor before you will likely enjoy this book, but if you are like me and hadn't run across him before you will especially enjoy finding a new author with other books to catch up on!
This was a real page turner. I've never heard of, or read anything by Brad Thor, but am very glad I found this book. The plot was excellent, yet easy to follow. George did his usual great job as narrator. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!
sports announcer, cyclist, enjoys to travel and the outdoors.
I am enjoying Thor's books. I really enjoed Takedown it is an excellent book. Worth the listen to.
Promising at first but too complicated and too long...ending is leaving with a sense that you listened in vain to all this......
I am listening now to 'The Last Man' from Vince Flynn.
No one. He is the best.
a different ending, that is for sure. I would also have cut down on the number of building they had to cover.
I will not go back to Scott Harvath
In my opinion, this has got to be one of Brad Thor's best Scot Harvath novels. I listened to the whole book in two sittings, it was impossible to put down. Granted, one must take into consideration the exceptional narration by George Guidall - he really brings these kinds of non-stop action novels to life.
If you enjoy reading Tom Clancy, Daniel Silva and Vince Flynn - you will enjoy Brad Thor.
This was my first book by the author. It was a good book but not great. If you like this type of book, I highly recommend the author Vince Flynn. He writes the same type of story but I enjoy them much more.
