Grisham’s best yet...here’s why

During the past 4 months I have listened to 13 John Grisham books on audible. None have been poor. A couple average. The rest great.

Sycamore Row is a story of redemption. All evil is hate - all hate is evil. Lettie Lang doesn’t know her family’s story. You’ll hear it so no need to spoil it. The legal system is once again the context, filled with real references to how opposing attorney’s wrangle. It’s captivating. Jake Brigance is a people’s attorney, the kind of guy I would choose to represent me. Though I’m not looking to be represented. Such a rich and deeply developed storyline. And Michael Beck is the best storyteller through his incredible voices, inflections, emotions and realism. Not a weak link in this book! Hope you give it a shot! - Dean

Follows the trial lawyer from a Time To Kill - really good story, keeps you going til the end! Worth it.

Loved it!

I was so excited to find there was a sequel to ‘A Time To Kill’, and I certainly wasn’t disappointed in it. It’s been awhile since I’ve had a ‘can’t put it down book.’ And I couldn’t have been happier that Michael Beck was narrating, he’s amazing and perfect for any Grisham novel.

It's been a while...

... since I read a John Grisham book. I loved his early work, then lost interest a bit before coming back with this one. I had forgotten what a good writer he is. This is a long, leisurely listen with engaging characters, a clear sense of place, and a plot that takes a while to get going. But I didn't mind that. Because, Michael Beck! Wow, what a tour de force. There were dozens of characters in this book, and somehow he managed to make everyone - man, woman, black, white, young, old - sound distinctive. He made it a real pleasure to listen to.

Great book, great performance

I love John Grisham’s books and Michael Beck has the absolute perfect southern drawl to perform then. You feel completely immersed and the story was one I couldn’t stop listening to. If you liked “A Time to Kill”, you’ll thoroughly enjoy this and revisiting old characters.

Kudos to Michael Beck for his splendid narration. This is Grisham at his best. It takes an experienced lawyer to a tell a story of this kind.

Outstanding! Jake Brigance is back!

A narrator can make or break an audiobook and Michael Beck does an outstanding job in Sycamore Row. This book hooked me from the very first chapter and kept my attention until the very last 30 seconds of the book. As the sequel to A Time to Kill, the old characters are alive and well and John Grisham has once again made the pages come alive as the reader (listener) can clearly picture each scene and conversation. Hoping for a movie from this one and, of course, no one but Matthew McConaughey would do as Jake Brigance. Make sure you listen to this one!
