Publisher's summary

Sam is working hard to get her new pastry shop, Sweet's Sweets, open for business. Just when she's really got her hands full with that, she's assigned a new property to take care of as part of her contract with the USDA. The place is a hoarder's delight and Sam is feeling more than a little bit overwhelmed as she begins cleaning with a vengeance. When a blood-soaked garment turns up among some things Sam has dropped off at the thrift shop, Sam recommends that they call the Sheriff's office. Deputy Beau Cardwell is a bit under pressure himself, as the Sheriff is so busy running for reelection that the office is understaffed. Together, Sam and Beau sift through the evidence and discover that the bloody coat leads to a far more complicated situation than a simple case of murder. Once again Sam calls upon the powers of the magical wooden box that came into her possession a few months earlier to help unwind the tangled threads of the case.

Muffins, Mystery, Murder

The second in the Samantha Sweet series finds Sam opening her new bakery . . . and cleaning up a property for the USDA to help fund her venture . . . when a bloody coat is found in the donated clothing she's dropped off at the thrift shop (from the hoards of stuff left at the abandoned home), Deputy Beau Cardwell gets involved . . . Samantha is making new friends at her newly opened bakery . . . some in high places . . . while Beau fights with the sheriff, (who is running for re-election and too busy to solve the case of the bloody coat and see if there is a connection to the man found dead) . . . I enjoyed all the baking stories . . . but found the magic box and the unexplained "messages" almost put the book in another category . . . one bordering on the occult . . . still, all said, its a good story, good conclusion . . . but I probably won't continue the series unless the supernatural stuff subsides . . .

Wonderfully written and directed well! Magnetic.

My review title truly says it all. The narration was clear and loved Andrea's different voices.

Another Good One By Connie Shelton

The narrator is good at changing her voice for various characters, that really helps make a book better. Some are not so good in this realm... enjoyed hearing about all of the "goodies" she makes/bakes. Love the idea of that "little box".... hummm... keeps me downloading the next book and that's probably Connie's intention, think? lol

There's just enough of "the box" and a few mysteries to make it interesting and she has a good voice herself, throughout, good narrator, period!

Simple reading, really, but interesting and I don't have to sit down to listen, I can multi-task :-) I can listen and clean or cook at the same time. Can't do bookwork but I can do other things.

I did figure out one thing early on in the book and the killer about 1 hour prior to the writer "showing her hand" but still, it was interesting, listening to her tell about her shop and baking etc., somehow, just enjoyed that part too even though it wasn't "mysterious", go figure. Guess it was just how she presents that part maybe?

I've read better/more mysterious but this fits that "certain criteria" that makes it good!

Nice Cozy Mystery!
