Nice change of pace

Really nice story about a war torn dog and a broken street cop who are brought together and form an unbreakable bond.

For dog lovers

Make no mistake. This book is lightweight as far as suspense and plot. But the story of Maggie, the dog, lifts it from the mundane to a special book about military and police dogs. I learned a lot about their training and and handling. And, of course, at the heart of the book is the bond developed between Maggie and her alpha.

I could compare it to driving in the rain but this one is better.

It didn't have the usual slow parts in the story that causes you to lose interest

For truth and dog lovers

Two wounded souls brought together to learn about life and healing together. Helped me understand my shelter rescue German Shepard better and why some protective traits are also fear that are overcome with inborn. Pack protection traits. The story characters were real and interesting. The suspense kept me reading long after my usual bedtime. Excellent ending.

Great read, with small criticism

I loved the relationship between Scott and the dog, and while I understand the crime component was probably necessary for continuity and cohesion (it is a police story, after all), I found that part boring and difficult to follow. Performance was excellent, and the dog and handler relationship was beautifully portrayed. In all honesty, I found myself zoning out during the parts about the case and motivations of the other characters. I just loved so much listening to Maggie and Scott's perspective and interaction.

I have read many Robert Crais books and always enjoy them. This book was a diversion from his regular storyline- a portion of the story is narrated from the dog's perspective. If you are a Robert Crais fan and you love dogs, this book is for you.

If you are a dog lover don't listen while driving!

This was a fabulous book! My warning is because you will get tears and be unable to focus your attention. I loved the book and the narrator was excellent. You will love this especially if you love dogs.

Suspect was a great story! Dog lovers and others will love it. Fast moving. Good ending.
