Publisher's Summary

The Charlemagne talisman, with its gold filigree volutes and enormous azure-blue sapphire, has caught Vicky Bliss' attention. When a man is found murdered with an enchanting copy of the antiquity in his pocket, along with an odd set of hieroglyphs, Vicky follows the trail of the gifted genius who created the fake to the narrow streets of the anitquity markets in Rome.

With her unusual qualifications, a doctorate in art history and the body of a movie goddess, Vicky is well equipped for getting the information she needs from anyone, particularly the older men who typically deal in antiques. But in #37 on the Street of the Five Moons, Vicky meets a dangerously exciting young Englishman, a man whose scruples are as questionable as his intelligence is keen.

Read by Barbara Rosenblat with the acclaimed talent that has made her Elizabeth Peters' only choice to read the Vicky Bliss series, Street of the Five Moons will delight the listener with a full measure of witty repartee and memorable characters.

Don't miss any of the mysteries in the Vicky Bliss series.

"Much better than the first Vicky Bliss"

I started on this second book in the Vicky Bliss series rather uneasy. I wasn't sure if I really didn't care for the first book, or if it was just the way it was read that made me feel so down about it.

But I do love Elizabeth Peters Amelia Peabody series and figued I would try Vicky again with Ms. Rosenblat reading.

I am so glad I did. The story was very good, maybe even too short. I found myself just loving "John" and the ending was great.

It was FUN, it was interesting and it was READ REALLY WELL!

I recommend it to anyone who loves Elizabeth Peters. And there is enough background in it that you can just skip the first book in the series and start with this one. I wish I had done that.

    :)

"Now this is where the series startes to take off"

Here we have the introduction of John?s character, and the beginning of the best part of the series. It is such a great listen to, and one cannot help buy want to travel to Germany afterwards. More Nancy Drew style mysteries that are repeat listens!

"Peters and Rosenblat - an unbeatable combo"

I am a dyed-in-the wool Amelia Peabody fan and have listened to Barbara's narration of all of that series over and over but this series comes off almost as well. In fact, although I own all of these titles in hardcopy, I much prefer the audio version. Rosenblat "becomes" the characters. You can't go wrong with this series for pure, unadulterated fun. I hate it when each book ends. Until Rosenblatt also narrates the Jacqueline Kirby books, I guess I'll just have to listen to all of these again - and again - and again.

    "Thoroughly entertaining"
What did you love best about Street of the Five Moons?

This was a really fun story. I loved each of the characters as performed by Ms. Rosenblat. This is a favorite of mine because the reader is first introduced to John Smythe.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Street of the Five Moons?

Too many to list, but I loved the description of the gang eating at the palace and the Count and John in a sword fight. Great dialog.

Have you listened to any of Barbara Rosenblat’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes. All of the Vicky Bliss and several of the Emilia and Emerson adventures.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    definitely.

    Any additional comments?

A wonderful addition to my permanent (listen to again and again) collection.

Who is the good guy really? Can he be trusted.? Are you sure? It seems as if crawling out of one mess, literally leads into one that is worse! Oh oh, "didn't listen to your gut! "
She is smart, strong, and can talk herself in and out of anything! Vicky Bliss

"Doesn't have the luster of others"

I am a huge fan of Peter's Amelia Peabody series and love Rosenblat as both Peabody and Bliss (yes, she sounds a bit too old for Vicky, but I think she captures her attitude beautifully), but the Bliss series just doesn't seem to have the richness of the Peabody series and seems just too predictable.

    "GREAT MYSTERY!"

VICKEY BLISS CANNOT GET INTO MORE TROUBLE WITHOUT TRYING THAN ANY HEROINE I KNOW. I LOVE THESE BOOKS BY ELIZABETH PETERS, KEEP YOUR DICTIONARY HANDY..LOVE ELUCIDATE. HER BRAINS AND FIGURE ARE HER MAJOR BANE, AS SO MANY MISTAKE HER FOR AN AIRHEAD AND SHE IS DEFINITELY ON THE HIGH SIDE OF THE IQ SCALE; THUS LEADING TO HER MANY QUANDARIES OF A GREAT MYSTERY. CLIVE CUSSLER SHE IS NOT, BUT CLOSE AS YOU CAN GET IN A COZY MYSTERY. ELIZABETH PETERS WRITES A WONDERFUL CHARACTER AND AM COLLECTING THE ENTIRE SET FOR FUN AND KNOWLEDGE OF HISTORY. BARBARA ROSENBLAT IS THE NARRATOR SO SHE HAS THE BEST NARRATOR IN THE FEMALE NARRATORS GENRE. NOW OFF TO #3 IN THE SERIES. SO WORTH THE CREDIT.
