Publisher's summary

The thrilling new novel in the number one New York Times - bestselling series.

In Israel, a man clutching a backpack searches desperately for a boat. In Minnesota, Virgil Flowers gets a message from Lucas Davenport: You're about to get a visitor. It's an Israeli cop, and she's tailing a man who's smuggled out an extraordinary relic - a copper scroll revealing startling details about the man known as King Solomon.

Wait a minute, laughs Virgil. Is this one of those Da Vinci Code deals? The secret scroll, the blockbuster revelation, the teams of murderous bad guys? Should I be boning up on my Bible verses?

He looks at the cop. She's not laughing. As it turns out, there are very bad men chasing the relic, and they don't care who's in the way or what they have to do to get it. Maybe Virgil should start praying.

Critic reviews

“One of the best in that series so far...[it is] exciting, complex and funny.... The beauty of Sanford's writing is that the narrative of the book is told in perfect harmony with Flowers' personality. The descriptions of the plot and the locale of the story have the same laconic quality as Virgil's tone and speaking habits. You seem to be in Virgil's mind and thoughts as the narrative unfolds...Storm Front is an enjoyable and relaxing read. Sandford knows his characters, his locale and his plot. There are no missteps. It is entertaining reading all the way.” (Huffington Post)

“With another gritty storyline and appealing characters, Sandford has penned another winner, one sure to shoot to the top of the best-seller lists.” (Richmond Times-Dispatch)

“Clever, quirky...unusually good-natured intrigue distinguishes this outing.” (Publishers Weekly, starred review)

I love that f...ing Flowers!

There is always humor to lighten a tense story in the Virgil Flowers series. Eric Conger has every character nailed. Can't wait to read the next one.

Great Flowers! But...

Really an excellent Virgil Flowers! I do wish, however, that Sandford would coach Conger a bit more thoroughly on the pronunciation of proper nouns. All the Gustavus Adolphus Alumni are cringing, as are residents of Edina! In this story, Gustavus was central because one of the key characters was a professor there. It literally hurt my ears to hear the way Conger pronounced it!

As usual, delightful!

As usual, I loved this book! John Sandford is without a doubt, an author hard to beat. I am NEVER disappointed in any of his books. The Prey Series is phenomenal but the Flower Series are my favorite and a MUST. Also, the reader is THE BEST. Thanks for all of the Sandford books!!!

Will he?

What did you love best about Storm Front?

I think Virgil has been fleshed out a bit more and has become more of a person.

Have you listened to any of Eric Conger’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have only heard him in the other Virgil Flowers, and he has become the "voice" of Virgil in my head.

Any additional comments?

What place is Ma going to play in future Virgil Flowers novels? Only the author knows, and even he might not. The book left me wondering if Ma would become #4.

Sanford, Enough said.

At this point with Sanford books it doesn't really matter what he writes about because I know and love the characters so much. Most books are a very easy fun read with some of them more time fillers then literary works of art. That being said I really liked where they took this book. A little international intrigue thrown in with the usual Effin Flowers and Davenport banter. Highly recommended.

Not Sandford's Best Story Line

I am reading the Virgil Flower's series and this one I didn't care for the story line. There wasn't much about Virgil and it was confusing. If you skipped this one you won't be behind in the series. I wish I had skipped it. Not giving up, still going to move on to book 8.
