I'd never heard of this series before I bought it. Was just looking for "radio dramas." These police procedurals work surprisingly well. I thought the plots were more inventive than what you get in TV police dramas and had a nice, fast pace. The characters interact like real human beings, and the actors were excellent. Leave it to the BBC to keep good radio drama alive. This was a great surprise find for me.
I could easily visualise the stories being told; they were well written and performed. Wish there were a third series already!
Stone is played brilliantly by Hugo Speer. His character is a police detective with two other characters reporting to him. I got really engrossed in the story lines which were gritty and relatable. Internal and external problems arise and Stone has to manage it. He has some demons which come out in the story.
When Mike's wife woke up in the hotel not knowing how she got there after a night out.
I've only seen him in The Full Monty where he plays a totally different character - great acting but not comparable
Inspector Stone Mysteries
So enjoyable and brilliantly produced.
I have not read the print version but the stories and the acting on this were wonderful.
I thought the lead actor was superb.
I have not, but would hope to.
I would love more options like this radio show!
"Radio 4 drama at its best"
I love the Stone series and Hugo Speer is excellent in the title role. This really is Radio 4 drama at its best- gritty storylines, superb casting and a Manchester setting!
I really enjoyed this dramatisation. I caught one episode when they were on the radio and really enjoyed it, so was pleased to see the series in Audible library. I downloaded all the available episodes because the story and characters are so compelling. I just wish that they had series one!
