Publisher's summary

Lucas Davenport has seen many terrible murder scenes. This is one of the worst. In the small Minnesota town of Deephaven, an entire family has been killed - husband, wife, two daughters, dogs.

There’s something about the scene that pokes at Lucas’s cop instincts - it looks an awful lot like the kind of scorched-earth retribution he’s seen in drug killings sometimes. But this is a seriously upscale town, and the husband was an executive vice president at a big bank. It just doesn’t seem to fit.

Until it does. And where it leads Lucas will take him into the darkest nightmare of his life.

sanford and ferrone have nailed it again!

Would you consider the audio edition of Stolen Prey to be better than the print version?

Any book would be improved by Richard Ferrone. But the book stands on its own.

What did you like best about this story?

There is a funny little subplot weaves its way thru an intense, gory story. Keeps things moving and lightens the mood.

Any additional comments?

Start here if you wish, but don't miss Sanford's previous Davenport books! Great plots, character development, etc every single time.

Davenport at his best!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I have recommended this book to several friends. I am a big fan of the prey series. This book had several twists and kept me engrossed (and at times on the edge of my seat). If you LIKE Sandford you will LOVE this book.

What about Richard Ferrone’s performance did you like?

He was a good narrator... Not the best but he kept a good pace and his character voices were pretty believable.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Some of the details of the crimes committed in this book turned my stomach a bit...

Any additional comments?

Set aside some time to listen to this book becaused it is hard to turn it off!

Uno, Dos, Tres

Gotta love the humor in these thrillers (including the telling of jokes) intertwined with all the violence, which is why they're thrillers of course.

Sandford and Ferrone - Winners Once Again

Is it possible to fall in love with an author/narrator/protagonist combo? Yes, indeed. Sandford, Ferrone and that sometimes naughty Davenport rock the story.

John Sandford used incredibly good judgment choosing Richard Ferrone. Long live authors who "listen" to their own books being read!

Very enjoyable

This was a great listen from start to finish. Lucas Davenport and the BCA are back, as are Weather, Lucie and the younger children, Sam and Gabrielle. Lots of action and an excellent performance by Richard Ferrone. Highly recommended.

Did not like the narrator at all

What did you love best about Stolen Prey?

I have been a fan of this series by Sanford from the beginning. The story he has woven here is one of his best. Unlike many authors who have created a long lasting series, Sanford hasn't lost his passion for these characters.

Would you be willing to try another one of Richard Ferrone’s performances?

I seriously doubt it. I felt like he was reading this book for a film noir performance of some 1940's hard boiled detective tale. It just didn't fit. It was a struggle for me to overcome my annoyance with the narrator to actually focus on the story

Another great one from Sandford

I love these books. I don't know what else to say. I love the books and the narration is great. One of my favorite pairings.
