Publisher's summary

When the body of a murdered man literally falls at Elizabeth Stuart's feet, she's able to wash away the blood - but not the terror. Unwelcome newcomers to Still Creek, Minnesota, she and her troubled teenage son are treated with suspicion by the locals, including the sheriff. Yet nothing will stop her from digging beneath the town's placid surface for the truth - except the killer.

Running from a messy divorce, Elizabeth believed buying a small-town newspaper offered a fresh start for herself and her son. But idyllic Still Creek, nestled in the heart of lush Amish farmlands, hides secrets dangerous enough to push someone to commit murder.

Now Elizabeth must risk everything to save herself and her son and to unmask the killer - before the current of evil flowing through Still Creek drags her under.

Too much

No temper control, no parental control, too much sex detail, too much sugar, too much redneck!

Very Romantic Crime Thriller

Crime Thriller wrapped by a chaotic love story. Saw it coming but still fun to listen too.

Great read, but

The premise of the story is very interesting. Along the same line as any other mystery. It was probably 15 chapters too long. Very repetitive regarding the son and the sheriff. She goes on and on about her son maturing, growing up etc. It became a bit much. Regarding the Sheriff, in bed out of bed, touch me here, don't touch me. Kiss me, don't kiss me. Hold me don't hold me. I love you, no I don't. You get my drift.
Like I said I did enjoy the basic story, just not the extra 15 or so, chapters.

predictably the same

However still enjoy hearing about falling in love with the unpredictable!
Narrator was very good, I enjoyed how she was able to distinguish the characters with her inflections.

Tami never fails to deliver

Would you listen to Still Waters again? Why?

Probably. The story was good. The relationships were sweet.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Obviously Dane. He made me smile.

Have you listened to any of Joyce Bean’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have not, to my recollection heard her before.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Extreme? No, but I did eventually become very very very irritated with a 16 year old constantly thinking of himself as "a man" and "a man would act like this" and " a MAN like him" ... he was 16. I got really tired of it by the end of the book. The rest of his character was fine. But the self-introspection got tiring.

Any additional comments?

All's well that ends well. I like that in a book.

Meh

i couldn't really get into the storyline in this one. I also found the main character calling everyone sugar distracting.

Stillwater is no surprise

This book held no surprises. It was not as good or suspenseful as others have been

Not the best

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Too much sex! I was expecting a murder suspense novel. I instead spent my commute listening to sex scenes which are not recommended on a morning commute drive in traffic. It was the last thing I wanted to hear!

Could you see Still Waters being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

no

Any additional comments?

Narrator was good.
