Publisher's summary

Beautiful, happily married, and the owner of a successful interior design business, Casey Marshall couldn't be more content with her life, until a car slams into her at almost 50 miles an hour, breaking nearly every bone in her body and plunging her into a coma.

Lying in her hospital bed, Casey realizes that although she is unable to see or communicate, she can hear everything. She quickly discovers that her friends aren't necessarily the people she thought them to be - and that her accident might not have been an accident at all. As she struggles to break free from her living death, she begins to wonder if what lies ahead could be even worse.

I Stayed Up ALL Night Listening To This One...

This book certainly made me rethink my Health Care Proxy & I sure didn't feel like my time had been wasted with this book. Joy Fielding gripped me right in the first chapter and got right to it.

A very descriptive and seductive story line I felt the rage, anger, anxiety, loss of control and the sadness of the whole situation. It wasn't obvious who the good and bad were until the second part of the book and that's when it REALLY gets good. I seriously wanted to kick some ass at the end. The narrater was pretty impressive which made the listen extra enjoyable.

A very interesting story line

This book really makes you think about what happens when someone is not conscious... Can we really comprehend what is going on around us? I liked the story line very much and narrator did a pretty good job of going from character to character. I recommend giving it a listen - probably not one I'll listen to repeatedly, but worth it nonetheless.

painfully trite dialogue

Reading the other reviews, and the synopsis of this book I was very intrigued and had high expectations. Sadly, I have to say this book was one step below the worst soap opera I've ever seen. The dialogue was downright juvenile at times, and the characters barely believable. Big disappointment..don't waste your time.

thought it would never end!

I read the reviews on this book, which were mixed, and decided to give it a shot because the idea for the story was very interesting. It could have been a great story but the main character (casey) was disgustingly perfect in every way and her sister was so annoying I could hardly stand it. The story kept jumping back to fill in background on casey's life and I kept fast forwarding through it. It was very predicatable, disappointing and in some parts just plain annoying. Thanks to the ability to fast forward, I did manage to finish listening just because I wanted to see how casey got out of her predicament.

This book put ME into a coma

I should have been smart enough to realize that a book where the main character is in a coma through the whole thing would be boring...unfortunately I thought I'd give it a try. Another book that makes me wish we could get our money back. It was so boring. I did want to find out how it ended but it was so boring to get to....it dragged on and on and on....similar to being in a coma. First I set my Ipod on 2x speed so I'd get through it faster. Then I started fast forwarding and then listening, fast forwarding and then listening. Soon I was skipping ahead without even fast forwarding. I would have just ditched it but I wanted to know how it ended. I think I got this one on a sale, I've got to stop doing that.

Interesting

The story line is interesting but once you know "whodunit" it becomes slow. But the thought of "being a fly on the wall" when others are talking about you is intriguing.

So-So

The book is ok. It delves mostly into the womans history of how her family dynamics became what they are today. I figured out the ending pretty much toward the beginning of the book but kept listening anyway. I thought there would be some great twists and turns in the story because I had read that Joy Fielding books have twists. Never happened. It would be a good book for someone who likes the standard very light suspense book. Just not for me.

Less than I expected

This book was not very well written. The dialog was silly and predictable sometimes and the narrator was dreadful. Would not recommend.

Interesting concept and a good read

The book held my attention and the narrator was great. Another great storyline by Fielding.
