Publisher's summary

Beautiful, happily married, and the owner of a successful interior design business, Casey Marshall couldn't be more content with her life, until a car slams into her at almost 50 miles an hour, breaking nearly every bone in her body and plunging her into a coma.

Lying in her hospital bed, Casey realizes that although she is unable to see or communicate, she can hear everything. She quickly discovers that her friends aren't necessarily the people she thought them to be - and that her accident might not have been an accident at all. As she struggles to break free from her living death, she begins to wonder if what lies ahead could be even worse.

Interesting

The story line is interesting but once you know "whodunit" it becomes slow. But the thought of "being a fly on the wall" when others are talking about you is intriguing.

Good but not great.

this book was long for no reason. The story could have been told in a shorter version. I enjoyed the story bit it honestly didn't get good until half way through. its okay for a weekend home alone.

Intriguing Storyline

The storyline was intriguing, but lacking a bit in character development. I did have a hard time understanding the reader at times (but that could just be my poor hearing). Suspenseful at times, but a little redundant.

Spellbinding!!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Possibly the best book I have listened to (or read) in recent memory. The story just will not let you go so you listen for just a little more .. and a little more .. until you have lost track of time. I would not hesitate to recommend it my friends.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Still Life: A Novel?

So hard to choose without revealing too much - just imagine writing from the perspective of a woman in a coma, hearing everything going around her, trying to separate reality from imagination.

What about Kymberly Dakin’s performance did you like?

Kymberly Dakin's narration makes each character unique. There is no mistaking who is speaking and subtle changes in her voice let you know exactly what lies beneath the words.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Casey realizes who is responsible for her being in the coma.

Any additional comments?

I will definitely listen to the book again even knowing the answers to all the questions.

my first Fielding

This story is a very slow start but once it gets going...wow! The narrator was a hit as well.

Cheesy story

Bad reader. Doesn’t even know how to pronounce Hermès. So tacky. Would not recommend book or Audible version.

So-So

The book is ok. It delves mostly into the womans history of how her family dynamics became what they are today. I figured out the ending pretty much toward the beginning of the book but kept listening anyway. I thought there would be some great twists and turns in the story because I had read that Joy Fielding books have twists. Never happened. It would be a good book for someone who likes the standard very light suspense book. Just not for me.

Less than I expected

This book was not very well written. The dialog was silly and predictable sometimes and the narrator was dreadful. Would not recommend.

painfully trite dialogue

Reading the other reviews, and the synopsis of this book I was very intrigued and had high expectations. Sadly, I have to say this book was one step below the worst soap opera I've ever seen. The dialogue was downright juvenile at times, and the characters barely believable. Big disappointment..don't waste your time.
