Publisher's summary

Diane Mott Davidson’s New York Times best-selling novels are gourmet fare for mystery lovers. Recipes for such delicacies as "911 Chocolate Emergency Cookies" and "Damson-in-Distress Plum Tart" make Sticks & Scones especially delightful.

Catering Elizabethan fare to Aspen Meadow’s elite at an authentic castle brought from England is a dream come true for Goldy. But the day of the luncheon, Goldy is rudely awakened by a shotgun blast through her living room window. As the day goes on, she finds a murder victim floating in a stream on castle property, watches someone close to her get shot, and begins to see the ghost that haunts the castle. Instead of a welcome opportunity, this job has suddenly become a waking nightmare.

Award-winning narrator Barbara Rosenblat adds an exciting zest to Goldy’s misadventures. Listeners go wide-eyed and willingly into a mystery that builds suspense to the last moment.

Another great book with Goldie!

The Goldie cooking mysteries is one of my all time favorite series. This book is another in the line of great reads (or listens)! Lots of twists and turns keeps the listener/reader guessing until the end. I highly recommend.

Love the realistic family dynamic and the complex mystery

I really enjoyed this particular Goldy episode. The castle made for a neat setting. So far my favorite book of the collection but i am working my way through them.

Irritating

I have read/Listened to several books in this series to make sure it was not just my imagination or that it wasn't just one book where the main character was an idiot. No, she is an idiot. The author writes her as a Helicopter Mom and then makes her son a brat and she is too indulgent. Keeps trying to please her obnoxious son. Her husband is a great character. VERY patient. I am married to a retired Cop. If I acted like Goldy does we would have been divorced long ago. She keeps repeating the same mistakes in every book. I like the recipes. Love Marla and Julian. Marla is a hoot. The more you read/listen to these books the more they become predictable.

Not one of her best

Rambled with what I considered filler content and dialogue. Narrative had an annoying back ground noise. Certainly not her best book. Goldie was a little more over the top than usual. But still good. Certainly had a surprise at the end.

Even though it wasn't one of her best, I will continue with this series. I like the characters.

not her best book

not her best book. maybe she was in a deadline. A large part of the book is just a long monolog by the heroine. Almost everyone gets taken out by some injury leaving only Ms. G left standing to solve the case. And the little surprise guest hidden for 7 years? really? if you haven't read this author before, start with a different book. She really is a better writer.

background noise

I don't know if it was her breathing, swallowing or background noise but it was distracting and very gross sounding. this should have been edited out better

Delicious

While listening, I was so hungry. The descriptions of the foods made my belly smile, especially the vegetarian ones. Julian is my favorite character.
I’ve enjoyed all of the Davidson culinary mysteries I’ve listened to. I’m ready for more.

Goldy Does it Again!

Loved the story. Narrator is wonderful. Characters are so complete, really enjoyed this book. I have read many of Ms. David's books and made several of the recipes. Makes me smile and my family loves all the recipes!
