Publisher's summary

#1 New York Times bestselling author Catherine Coulter returns with another pulse-pounding thriller featuring FBI agents Dillon Savich and Lacey Sherlock...

A serial killer is on the loose, and it's up to FBI agents Dillon Savich and Lacey Sherlock to bring him down. They soon discover that the killer has blood ties to an infamous and now long-dead monster. Savich and Sherlock are joined by agents Lucy Carlyle and Cooper McKnight, and the chase is on.

At the same time, Agent Carlyle learns from her dying father that her grandfather didn't simply walk away from his family twenty-two years ago: he was, in fact, murdered by his wife, Lucy's grandmother. Determined to find the truth, Lucy moves into her grandmother's Chevy Chase mansion. What she finds, however, is a nightmare. Not only does she discover the truth of what happened all those years ago, but she faces a new mystery, one that has been passed down from mother to daughter for generations.

As the hunt for the serial killer escalates, Savich realizes he's become the killer's focus, and perhaps the next victim. It's up to Lucy to stop this madness before it's too late.

Bad, bad readers

This was a great story, but the reader/readers ruined it -- some of the *emotion* was so rigid and forced, it became painful to listen. I stopped a couple of times and went to other books, but eventually finished it. In the future I'll avoid books listing these readers.

It was a Split Second!

It seemed like a split second from the time I plugged in to the end of the Epilogue. I completed it in three days 81 chapters and enjoyed it greatly.

What a ride.

Great book. This book is chock full of all kinds of twists and turns. Some great new characters were introduced. I hope to see Coop and Lucy featured in another new book real soon. Loved it !

Stilted readers

Would you consider the audio edition of Split Second: An FBI Thriller to be better than the print version?

Did not read it.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Sherlock & Savitch, of course.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Renee Raudman and Paul Costanzo ?

Anyone else!!!!

Any additional comments?

The readers did not do this book justice. Having read many of the author's books, and listened to several, I cannot understand how the author could have chosen them. Their stilted reading and awful accents were uncomfortable to listen to. At one point, the female reader sounded like a very bad imitation of Dolly Parton. An enjoyable story, as Coulter's all are, but not at all pleasing to listen to. I wish I had read it instead of listening to it!

Good story line, premise, characters

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The part where Sherlock is drugged, it goes on and on.

What other book might you compare Split Second: An FBI Thriller to and why?

Maybe Patricia Cornwell, I am not sure.

What aspect of Renee Raudman and Paul Costanzo ’s performance would you have changed?

Sometimes Renee's voice was too wispy or squeaky.

Do you think Split Second: An FBI Thriller needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

I really like the characters, Sherlock, Savage, Lucy, and Cooper. I would definitely buy another book with these characters. The interaction between them was great. I would like to see more development of the characters and all of them solving a case. I would also like to see more supernatural elements.
I liked that there were more than one story happening at once.

Great Entertainment

Several cases going at once - Characters are great. And, as always Savich and Sherlock are rock solid! It was read by 2 narrators and they were great.
