Silence is deadly.
The murder of 18-year-old Angie Vance was exceptionally vile - her mouth was sealed with glue, an obscenity scrawled was across her skin, and she was suffocated in a garbage bag. The killing seems personal, so police detective Carina Kincaid focuses her efforts on the victim's much older ex-boyfriend, Steve Thomas. But without physical evidence, Carina can't make a collar or a case. She also can't stop Sheriff Nick Thomas, the prime suspect's brother, from conducting his own unwelcome investigation.
Though Nick is still scarred and unsteady from a recent confrontation with a serial killer, he's determined to prove his brother's innocence. But his confidence is shaken when he learns of Steve's dark side, and when a friend of the murdered girl meets a similarly gruesome fate. With no time to lose, Carina and Nick work together to trap a psychopath, before another unlucky woman faces an unspeakable end.
Evil has spoken. Now see what it can do.

My favorite series are In Death and Eve Duncan Forensics. I prefer to read about strong female protagonists involved in a good mystery.
The narrator is awful. He sounds as if he is a bad actor reading a script out loud. He also does a horrible female voice and it's creepy when he talks from Karina's perspective.
I am an eBay seller who listens to approx. a book a day while taking & editing photos of my items. I love a good suspenseful mystery!
Writing is juvenile and needs editing
don't know couldn't get far enough into the book to figure out the characters
only $4.95 but still a complete waste of money!
I am a retired Court Reporter and I LOVE books. All kinds of books but my favorites are mysteries and period books. I like civil war books and some biographies.
This book was well written and the story line good. It held my attention from the first and I was sorry when it was over.
Good beginning of series.
I cannot wait for the rest of these books, I've read them and they only get better!
A run of the mill bodice-buster wrapped in a crime story -- very formulaic, nothing new or unique about it, and not especially interesting. Not sure why I bought it, but I won't be looking for any more. Nothing especially bad about it, just nothing worth remembering, either. With so many great books out there (see the Linda Castillo series) you can give this one a pass.
Yes, the story was really good.
It was a male reader who made all of the female characters sound like female impersonators!
I wish there were more books in this series. The relationships between the main characters and their internal struggles make this much more than a standard crime novel.
An appropriate categorization would have brought me to 3. It's not a thriller. It's a bodice ripper. If I'd been interested in reading one of those, I might have been somewhat satisfied. That's on YOU, Audible.
Less female cop swooning over hard body sheriff. More suspense.
Hm. I don't know. Mr. Lundeen was awful, unless he (like me) expected a very different story and read the book with his tongue planted firmly in his cheek, which occurred to me more than once as I was listening. Seriously, I don't think Sir Anthony Hopkins could have kept the audible eye-rolling out of his voice ...
In fairness, it's not my kind of book so I can't say it has no redeeming qualities. It was listed as a thriller and I expected a scary page turner. If I happened to be a fan of romance novels, maybe I wouldn't have been disappointed. That's on YOU, Audible.
Heart-shaped ass and bulging breasts in a red lace bra with barely there matching panties meets hard body and they mostly look at each other but when they don't, they look for a sadistic serial killer. That's the book I got, not the book I bought.
I enjoy listening to audiobooks while working in my shop or around the house -sort of mental multitasking.
I believe this person has read a lot of mystery-police novels and pieced together a plot typical for thousands of them based on what she had read. No imagination, nothing new. I didn't like the reader at all.
