"James has a knack for writing those perfect-for-a-day-at-the-beach [listens]." (Book Binge)
I had this sitting in my Wish List for a long while. The cover looked "cheesy" to me, but the story and ratings interested me. One day I just downloaded it. It turned out to be a really good story. If you can get passed the first few chapters, the story really takes off from there. I was surprised and very glad I stuck with it.
Sassy dialogue, humor, and a great reader are important to me.
Julie James has great dialogue you do not want to miss.
lots of them. Secondary characters witty comments are what you will love and it makes this story fun.
Karen's voice is not the best, but she has good timing and this makes up for it. This book is #1 of the three. #3 voice was weak, but again dialogue makes up for it.
this is not a real mystery, but a romantic story with mystery timing. You will listen to it in one day, I did.Enjoy. Now I start #2 book as #1 and #3 were recommended and I listened in that order.
The Party with FBI - This is a fun listen.
It is a chick listen. Just what most women would enjoy
This book came alive by the narrator. Reading it would have been good, but listening to it was great.
All of the characters were well developed and likeable. The author's style reminded me of Suzanne Brockmann, whom I LOVE!
She was able to depict men as well as women effortlessly. Sometimes you have to get use to a narrator, or they will have trouble with one gender or the other. Karen White was the reason this book got 5 stars and not 4. I will now check out other books she has narrated.
Yes, I loved spending time with these characters. It all came together for me in this book.
I really like the sense of humor in the book. These were not one dimensional characters. I could see where the author could write a story about each one, and I would like that. Truly an enjoyable listen!!
I have recommended this book to several friends. I knew that they would love the humor.
I guess I would say the other Julie James books. Practice makes perfect is my favorite.
She is fun to listen to.
To laughter- yes, many times.
You will love this book!
The book is well written.
It was just so average. Change the names and occupations and it could have been any of a number of romance books out on the market.
I guess my standards have been set by Jennifer Crusie and Susan Elizabeth Phillips - I just expect more out of a book.
This book was so slow to get started I almost lost interest. I think the narrator made it worse. I love Julie James books and have read them and enjoyed them but this audible version made me wonder if it was the writing or the reading. It didn't seem like there was any real chemistry between the two main characters and in the end I didn't really care what happened to them. I think it was supposed to have some suspense with the final scene but it fell short. I wish I hadn't used my credit on this one.
