" "Former attorney and reporter Levine delivers a funny, fast-paced legal thriller." (Publishers Weekly)
"Levine makes the most of his characters, as well as the South Florida setting both in and out of the courthouse." (Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel)
this is a perfect book for those that love a legal mystery but appreciate clever characters and humor as well. This author gave us much more than a whodunit. He gave us memorable moments and pathos. I look forward to his next book.
My wife and I love audio books on long car trips, and this has been one of our all-time favorites! Great film-noir snappy dialogue and moving sub-plots, but the book is really about character development and interplay, just like the best in Spencer/Hepburn or a good Cary Grant movie. My only disappointment was to find that this is the only book by the author on Audible. BRING ON THE SEQUEL!!
Combining clever conception and facetious expression, Solomon Vs Lord is Katherine Hepburn Spencer Tracy circa 21st Century. Laugh out loud funny in this-fast-paced legal thriller. There are plots and sub plots… Plenty of romance. Even a grieving widow who's been charged with murdering her wealthy husband during a kinky sexcapade. Then there is the young autistic nephew who steals the story and warms your heart.
You won’t put this one down. It is worth 2 of your book credits, it’s that good!
If you think that the Law lacks humor, think again. Paul Levine shows us that the Law has its own special kind of Jewish humor. I don't know if we could technically call "Solomon vs. Lord" a legal thriller; but it definitely keeps the listener's attention. Mr. Levine has conceived an hilarious plot device of pitting a brilliant, by-the-book female attorney against a brilliant, by-the-seat-of-his-pants male attorney. We get to sit back and watch the sparks fly. These two were meant for each other. Plus, Mr. Levine treats us to a heart-warming, gut-wrenching sub-plot involving an adorable, special little boy. Christopher Lane narrates this audiobook with consummate expertise, giving unique voices to all the characters. I highly recommend this audiobook to anybody who enjoys humor with a little romance on the side.
I've been listening to Audible Books for just over a year. This book was a real delight. From the start it engaged the listener into the basis of the book, the relationship between Soloman and Lord. The bantering back and forth was very reminiscent of William Powell and Myrna Loy in the, "Thin Man" movie series. There were several very nice subplots woven in which gave a nice flavor and depth to the listen. I recommend this listen very highly. I only wish they had more audible works by this author.
What a fun and entertaining read! Deep it's not, but I so enjoyed it I went out and bought the rest of the Solomon/Lord series in paperback!
This is a great book and a superb listen. A truly compelling story, with characters to relate to and like, and the perfect blend of suspense and romance. All this adds up to this book being the Gold Standard by which all my other legal thrillers can be measured. The only one that even comes close to this good is the Lincoln Lawyer. I've listened to them both twice: and in many ways I prefer this one. So, so, so good. Don't miss out! If you like legal thrillers, this one's a winner.
Wonderful narration. The plot has twists and never drags. You are drawn in from start to finish. The characters have so much depth and appeal...I Loved this book! I HIGHLY recommend it... I just there were more books avail from the author... The series has 2 or 3 more books that are not yet avail on audio :-( Hopefully they will come through soon...
This is one of the best books I listened to latley. The dialogue is funny and witty and smart. Not often do I find myself laughing out loud, while listening. I really enjoyed this one and didn't want it to end.
