Ann Rule's shocking and powerful account of the destructive forces that drove Diane Downs, a beautiful young mother, to shoot her three young children in cold blood.

"Superb... the most riveting true-crime account since In Cold Blood (Kirkus Reviews)
Never enough time to read all the stories and series I enjoy.
I enjoy Ann Rule's works most of the time, but this is the first time Ive heard her preform. It was pretty flat, monotone, and terrible. I enjoyed her other books read by others though. Wouldnt recommend this.
I love true crime, especially Ann Rule. I was upset however, that I bought the abridged version. I read the book years ago and it was much longer and more detailed. I will purchase the unabridged version very soon.
But this story is so amazing and it boggles the mind how a mother could be so selfish.
For sure! I loved that Ann Rule herself narrated it.
She is telling HER story that SHE wrote and put her heart and soul into. It makes a difference to have the author retell what she worked so hard on.
I know it has been said repeatedly, but the narration really is horrible. I don't know who gave the OK for the author reading this book, but they should be fired.
Actually read the book she published...this not even three hour short story remake is an insult to the book she actually did write. The book contains way more information and leads you into the mind of Diane Downs. This audiobook barely scratch the surface.
I wish I could have my money back.
for true crime lovers this is a must read book--wish this was unabridged
Diana on the witness stand
I find human behavior very interesting--and Downs is a great case study
This was a waste! Ann Rule is an "okay" writer on one of my favorite genres. However, she is not (nor should she EVER be) a narrator!! I found this book reading almost incomprehensible. What a sacrifice!
Retired Navy Nurse
The story of Diane Downs, pre-Susan Smith, was told extremely well by Diane Fanning. I wish it was unabridged and longer, but loved it just the same. Great true crime.
