Publisher's summary

A soul weary Shane Ryan has physical and emotional scars - souvenirs of his gruesome occupation. His latest job is in Nashua, a sleepy little upstate New Hampshire town that's been awakened by a rampage of murders in Slater Mill. The body count is escalating at an alarming rate. The police have no motive or suspects in the grisly killings and the residents are scared!

As he prepares to leave for Slater Mill, Shane is visited by an old acquaintance whose timing couldn't be worse. Shane's personal demons are driving him to the edge and he's running out of time to save himself and stop the slaughter at the mill. Finally, armed and ready, he heads to Nashua to take down the ghost behind the killings, Pierre Gustav, who is just as brutal in death as he was in life!

The minute Shane reaches the old abandoned building, his senses are jangling. The mill is deathly silent as a ghost crew mans the machines. Shane focuses on Pierre, knowing the merciless specter must not win this battle. Shane isn't afraid to die; at one time, he would have welcomed death. But it's not in him to quit. Now facing the deadliest fight of his life, Shane only has one goal: destroy Pierre Gustav or die trying.

Slater Mill's ghost

This was another good story. It kept me involved in the plot waiting to read what would happen next. Another creepy read from Mr. Ripley. I will read more from this author.

Better than the previous story

This book is better than the previous in the series. New story, but does a great job of building on the world as well as drawing together elements from the previous books in the series. Really enjoy the narrator for this series as well! Looking forward to the rest of the series.

Great Book

I enjoyed Slater Mill, as I have entire Berkley Street series . So far, I have found that Ron Ripley is a very good writer of ghost stories. Right off hand, I cannot think of a poorly written story among the many books I've read of Mr. Ripley.

Very good

Would you listen to Slater Mill again? Why?

Yes. There was so much going on. It was exciting!

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Yes. I worried for the characters. I wondered at what was going on. It was well-written as well.

Which scene was your favorite?

When the assassin came to kill Shane and Frank. Without giving anything away, I was all =O and then =X. It was really good.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

There is no rest after death.

Creepy Mill

Slater Mill reminds me to never go inside abandoned buildings, especially at night, by myself. Frank and Shane are on hunt for the Watchers still, who want nothing more than to kill them. Pierre, ghost, was sadistic in life and even worse in death. Shane’s house ghost also gets to “play” which is not good for the unwanted guests. Story keeps you in till the end.

Excellent Story

I read the Berkley Street Series books 1 - 9 and Ron Ripley really knows how to take you down a path with a lot of unexpected twists. Thom Bowers adds even more life to the characters in the audio versions. Well done all around!.

Interesting plot and phenomenal reading from Thom

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, the progression of the series and introduction to the watchers was a good follow-up piece to the rest of the series. We also expanded some on the main characters, which was a good mix with the new.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I think that Eloise surprised me in this book. I did not know she had certain abilities and follow through actions.

What does Thom Bowers bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He does bring the book to life. So many different characters that he can portray is simply amazing.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Some parts were definitely cringe worthy

Any additional comments?

Thanks again Ron and Thom for the great work.

Amazing!

I highly recommend the entire series. The main characters come across as very real. They have baggage, they're believable, and it makes you cheer for them that much more. It's not always easy to get attached to a character in what boils down to a ghost story, but this series nails it on the head. I'm always left wanting more. Each story in the series builds off the last and takes you a great journey. Sometimes, as with life, the journey is painful. I highly recommend the series. Once you start into it, you won't want to put the series down. if you're anything like me, you'll be desperately watching for an announcement that the next book is being released. I hope to never hear the end of Shane Ryan!
