Publisher's summary

Juan Cabrillo and the crew of the covert combat ship Oregon have barely escaped a mission on the Congo River when they intercept a mayday from a defenseless boat under fire off the African coast. Cabrillo takes action, saving the beautiful Sloane Macintyre - who's looking for a long-submerged ship that may hold a fortune in diamonds. But what surprises Cabrillo is her story about a crazy fisherman who claims to have been attacked on the open sea by giant metal snakes in the same area.

What begins as a snake hunt leads Cabrillo onto the trail of a far more lethal quarry - a deranged militant and his followers who plan to unleash the devastating power of nature itself against all who oppose them.

A Keepr

I really like the way that Audible books, once purchased, stay purchased. I bought this a couple of years ago and had forgotten how it turned out. Scott Brick is an amazing narrator. This is one of the best Cusslers. For fans of the Oregon files or those new to them, this book is particularly good because almost all the action takes place in or around the sea. I just finished it for the second time and given time I'll probably return for a third pass in a couple of years!

Classic Cussler

This particular Cussler has, what feels like, four stories in one. It was a great listen, with twists and turns one has come to expect.

Absolute Masterpiece, Epic Narration Mesmerizing!

If you’ve been bitten by the Cussler Oregon Files bug in print as I you owe it to yourself to listen to this and the preceding title; “Dark Watch”.
Although it’s the 3rd or 4th title in this series, I was persuaded by other reviewers to start the series, and I think it was sound advice. There is enough background on “The Corporation” in these two masterpieces that the feel like the beginning of the series.
Narrator Scott Brick weaves life into each and every character so well I don’t know if I could continue to listen to and Cussler titles not read by him. He’s that good. For those titles, I’ll just go back to reading the books in print. Bravo!

Great story

Clive always does an amazing job of describing everything. I can close my eyes and see a clear picture of the charaters and surroundings, as well as the action. Magnificent story teller.

Why Use Profanity At All?

What an incredible, pure, story of good prevailing, evil defeated, heroism. It goes chapter after chapter then the gratuitous - yet mild - profanity. Clive could write forever without a cuss word and it would not affect the pure entertainment of his books.
