Publisher's summary

Six years have passed since Jake Fisher watched Natalie, the love of his life, marry another man. Six years of hiding a broken heart by throwing himself into his career as a college professor. Six years of keeping his promise to leave Natalie alone, and six years of tortured dreams of her life with her new husband, Todd.

But six years haven’t come close to extinguishing his feelings, and when Jake comes across Todd’s obituary, he can’t keep himself away from the funeral. There he gets the glimpse of Todd’s wife he’s hoping for...but she is not Natalie. Whoever the mourning widow is, she’s been married to Todd for almost two decades, and with that fact, everything Jake thought he knew about the best time of his life - a time he has never gotten over - is turned completely inside out.

As Jake searches for the truth, his picture-perfect memories of Natalie begin to unravel. Mutual friends of the couple either can’t be found or don’t remember Jake. No one has seen Natalie in years. Jake’s search for the woman who broke his heart, who lied to him, soon puts his very life at risk as it dawns on him that the man he has become may be based on a carefully constructed fiction.

Harlan Coben once again delivers a shocking novel that deftly explores the power of past love and the secrets and lies that such love can hide.

Great storyline

This was one of the best audio books I've ever listened to. Scott Brick is the narrator of all time !!!

Mystery Deluxe

Would you listen to Six Years again? Why?

Harlan Coben hooks you right from the start with the twist and turns of Natalie and her life. What a great Author. I can't say enough good things about this book, except you will not be able to put it down.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Scott Brick?

I loved this book, but Scott Brick almost ruined it for me. I didn't like his version of story telling at all. He made the character seem week and not very appealing. If it wouldn't have been for already reading this book and knowing how great it was, he would have lost me at Hello.

Loved book - did not care for narrator

Great story - had to be to make me finish this one. I did not care for narration. I think he was too dramatic in his inflection. But my opinion only.

A 1 in 50 book.

If you could sum up Six Years in three words, what would they be?

Believable hero(es), excellent plot, good performance. Kept my interest throughout.I listen to about 50 books each year and run into perhaps one this enjoyable each year. Scott Britt always does fine work and does so again.

The gems of this book are the plot and writing style. The plot keeps a good level of intrigue going throughout. Mr. Coben's style is up there among the good ones for sure.

There are a few minor technical issues but, if you are going to allow authors to spin fiction, they all deserve some latitude. Mr. Coben takes no more and probably much less than other authors of the genre.

Normally spend about a week taking in a 10-15 hour book, went through this one in about a day and a half.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Six Years?

Spoiler alert***When the lone gunman came out of the woods, I knew who it would be and was grinning with expectation.

Have you listened to any of Scott Brick’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, don't specifically know which ones but knew him by name and voice. He always does a good job, certainly one of the top voice actors out there. I'm always amazed by a male's ability to immediately take me to a female speaker at will and Scott is one of the ones who can do this despite a deep voice.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Like good endings, life is tough enough without listening to other's troubles for entertainment. The ending in this one was a good one.

Lots of twists and turns for your money!

I liked this book. My husband and I listened to it in the car while on vacation. I like a book with some twists and turns without being overly complicated. This was a good balance. Narration was good, story was good, ending WAS GOOD!!

Got Hooked!

If you could sum up Six Years in three words, what would they be?

suspense
surprising
mystery

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

yep!! Very good story with lots of twists and turns. Kind of a stretch how someone could get that infatuated over someone they knew such a short amount of time...and have it continue for six years of absence... but if you can get past that, you'll enjoy the story.

Great mystery

This book was so spellbinding with twist and turns an every page. You only know the full story in the last chapter. Not thrilled with narrator. His voice is too whiney for me but I did get used to it.

Not a favorite

The story was decent enough but listening to the narrator wore me out and grated on my nerves after a few chapters. Not sure what he was trying to convey but the lack of emotion through the story bored me.

Loved every minute of it

Would you consider the audio edition of Six Years to be better than the print version?

This is my second Coben novel. I liked this one much better than the other that I read. I loved the narration. I thought he breathed life into the storyline.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Absolutely! I listen on my commute to work and home. I hated getting out of the car.

Which character – as performed by Scott Brick – was your favorite?

Jake
