Publisher's summary

Six years have passed since Jake Fisher watched Natalie, the love of his life, marry another man. Six years of hiding a broken heart by throwing himself into his career as a college professor. Six years of keeping his promise to leave Natalie alone, and six years of tortured dreams of her life with her new husband, Todd.

But six years haven’t come close to extinguishing his feelings, and when Jake comes across Todd’s obituary, he can’t keep himself away from the funeral. There he gets the glimpse of Todd’s wife he’s hoping for...but she is not Natalie. Whoever the mourning widow is, she’s been married to Todd for almost two decades, and with that fact, everything Jake thought he knew about the best time of his life - a time he has never gotten over - is turned completely inside out.

As Jake searches for the truth, his picture-perfect memories of Natalie begin to unravel. Mutual friends of the couple either can’t be found or don’t remember Jake. No one has seen Natalie in years. Jake’s search for the woman who broke his heart, who lied to him, soon puts his very life at risk as it dawns on him that the man he has become may be based on a carefully constructed fiction.

Harlan Coben once again delivers a shocking novel that deftly explores the power of past love and the secrets and lies that such love can hide.

Takes awhile to get going

Book was slow at first but is enjoyable to listen to. Not sure I would have continued if I was holding a book.

Good mystery but takes a while to get going

The story really came together in the last 2/3 of the book. Pretty slow going at the beginning though.

Gripping story, the way only Harlan can deliver

This is one of my favourite reads this year. The story is well-paced, the characters are interesting, the setting is believable (at least for the most part).

With few exceptions, Harlan Coben produces high-quality content. This is not an exception.

I'm also pleased to hear the narration is really good on this one. Never getting in the way, or being unnecessarily exaggerated, just delivering the book in a manner that seems befitting.

A top pick for me!

AH-MAZING!

From the first page to the very last, this book had me hooked! I’ve never written a review for a book but I just had to share how much I loved it. What a wonderful experience!

Six or more Twists

Harlan Coben doesn't disappoint. Just when I thought I knew the ending there's a twist. I then get my new theory going, and twist. Them I'm sure it can't have any other twists and then there's a twist.
Also he has the spunkiest quips, or prose, ever. I do find many of his make characters very stereotypical cis het, and this not relatable, but dang it's easy to read, and totally engaging... And I can finish it in a day. Fun stuff

Reads like an old Dime Store novel!

This is a complicated story with too many characters. The twists and turns begin in the first chapter. It continued at the same harried pace the its very last page! The story line is that a liberal arts college professor loses his girlfriend to another man. But six years later, he finds that the man’s widow is not the old girlfriend. He spends the entire book trying to find what happened to her. Clues continue to unfold at a frenetic rat-a-tat pace. If you like old time gangster novels, you are sure to enjoy Six Years.

It was decent.

The story was ok. The ending was a bit weak. Not sure if I will be purchasing any more books by this author.

Overly dramatic rehash.

This is an old tale retold, but not in a better way. While Scott Brick did an excellent job reading the novel "Twelve " he was a poor choice for this book. His voice & delivery is way too dramatic and falsely saccharine for the average listener.
A waste of time, better books are available.

Well that was different

It's a pretty convoluted bizarre story. A little hard to follow. Semi-entertaining. Maybe a second listen would help.
