Publisher's summary

When CIA operative Malcolm, code-named Condor, discovers his colleagues butchered in a blood-spattered office, he realizes that only an oversight by the assassins has saved his life. Malcolm disappears into the streets of Washington, hoping to evade the killers long enough to unravel the conspiracy - but will that be enough to save his life?

Just ok

The story is ok, but there are literally so many absurd twists and turns for the hero that it becomes more difficult to conceive than anything that Ludlum ever conceived. Not bad, but not great either.

Rare

Any additional comments?

This is the rare instance where the movie was better than the book. I liked the author discussing the differences between his work and the screen play. It was very interesting. As a first try the book is ok, but not the very fine story the screenplay became. The changes to the female character and the villan were much more interesting in the movie than they were in the book.

Condor still soars!

This spy thriller survives at the top of the heap of great thrillers.

At a surprising young age, Grady discovered this vein before Tom Clancy, Lee Child, or Stephen Hunter.

6 Days compared to 3 Days of the Condor

I loved James Grady’s book, 6 Days of the Condor, and the way he built intensity throughout most of the book. It lagged some toward the very end of the book, but that could have been my perspective having seen the movie of 3 Days of the Condor at least a half dozen times. I am a fan of Sydney Pollack’s many movies, but 3 Days of the Condor continues to sit at the top of my list of favorites. I kept picturing Robert Redford and Faye Dunaway in the top roles of the screenplay. I must admit I loved lingering through the three extra days in Grady’s book.

Incredible

Great story - really enjoyed it - just as much as the movie. I was impressed by how well the movie script compared to the written word. Great choice and worth your time!

More enjoyable than the movie.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, this is a great spy thriller. Definitely a "page turner". It is quite different than the movie which is "Three Days of the Condor" because it takes place over longer time so more details and depth are provided.

Read The Confession first!

Loved the narrator. If only more of my books were read by him! Before we were required to stay home, but after the virus hit the United States (Isn't that weird to read; and weider to say?) I could listen for an hour or two on a road trip. Recently, since I can't physically read a book, I could only listen on the way to the store. I was able to read it the 1st time around... & liked it. This time, after having someone read me The Confession halfway through, I liked it even more! WAHOO!

Oldy but a Goody

I was not sure about this book when I started but by the end it was very enjoyable albeit fairly short. It is a fast and action packed book. I have never seen the movie I may now. Excellent novel if you like the Thiller / Spy genere of books.
