Publisher's Summary

Two sisters, one dangerous truth....

One hot August night, Rachel Darcy gets the call everyone fears. It's the police. Her younger sister Evie's had a car crash; she's in a coma. Can Rachel fly to London right away?

With Evie injured and comatose, Rachel is left to pick up the pieces of her sister's life. But it's hard fitting them together, especially when she really doesn't like what she sees. Why was Evie driving when she doesn't even own a license? Who is the man living in her flat and claiming Evie is his girlfriend? How come she has never heard of him?

The more mysteries Rachel uncovers, the more she starts asking herself how well she ever really knew her sister. And then she begins to wonder if the crash was really the accident everybody says it is. Back in hospital, Evie, trapped inside an unresponsive body, is desperately trying to wake up. Because she's got an urgent message for Rachel - a warning that could just save both their lives....

"I'm 7.5 hours in, and I'm not sure I can finish..."

Of course I normally finish a book before writing a review, but I'm just not sure I can. I am currently 7 and a half hours in to this 10 and a half hour story... only 3 hours to go... but...
The characters are so unlikable and the narration is often cringe worthy (especially when the narrator of Eve does an American accent). I find that although I want to know how it ends, ( which is the only reason I gave it the two stars I did instead of returning it) I get so agitated listening to the story of these two women that I can hardly wait for it to be over. There is no one to cheer for, because this far in, I still don't like the characters or the book.
***Update: I made myself finish it, but for me, it never got better. Definitely a wasted credit, and worse than a waste of time, because it was irritating as well.

    "5 stars really enjoyed"

Gave 5 stars because the story was interesting and held my interest from the start. I really enjoyed the narrators/performers. Their accents of England and Ireland enhanced the story. I recommend the book because of these reasons.

Would you listen to Sisters and Lies again? Why?

Not especially because I know the outcome now.

What did you like best about this story?

Good characters and a twisty plot

What about Caroline Lennon and Marcella Riordan ’s performance did you like?

Very good. Felt like the really were the characters

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It made me smile in places with the wit and tense up in other places with suspense.

    Really enjoyed it.

"Worth a credit, although not the best story."

The ending was a bit far fetched, the plot was manipulated by obvious clues that probably wouldn't have happened real life.

the going from evie to Rachel made the book even better. I enjoyed the build up to the grand finale but a little disappointed with the ending

    "Very engaging!"
What about Caroline Lennon and Marcella Riordan ’s performance did you like?

    Excellent narration.

    Any additional comments?

I was engaged by the story from the beginning and remained so throughout. The characters are well drawn, the family dynamics are beautifully formulated, it has drama, mystery and, at times, edge of the seat tension. I would give the story 5*, except that 'the reveal' switched too suddenly. A little preparation with more information about the character would have allowed it to flow more smoothly.

    Story
"Hard hitting listen with lots of home truths"

It's great to hear some real topics being discussed for a change - feminism, domestic violence, mental health and the justice system. The story is extremely dark but realistic sadly, and it's great that the writer did not hold back in showing all the different tenets of a personality. Some of the story was predictable in terms of who was sending the graphic emails, but rather than seeing it as a detective story, it's like a psychological analysis into people's characters.

Intriguing and interesting, great narration as well.

    "OK"

I have listened to a number of these books where someone is in a coma but narrating.
This was a good story, but the endings were very convenient to tie up loose ends.
