Publisher's summary

Former Secret Service agents turned private investigators Sean King and Michelle Maxwell have seen their lives splinter around them. Michelle lies unconscious in a hospital bed after a night of suicidal violence. And Sean is forced to take on a thankless investigation into the murder of a scientist just inside the CIA's razor-wire fence near Williamsburg, Virginia.

Soon he is uncovering layers of disinformation that shields a stunning world of elite mathematicians, physicists, war heroes, spies, and deadly field agents. Amid murder, a seemingly autistic girl's extraordinary genius, and a powerful breakthrough in the realm of classified codes, Sean learns enough to put his life at risk. Now, he needs Michelle, at her best, to help stop a conspiracy of traitors operating in the shadow of the White House itself.

From Michelle's courageous struggle to defeat her long-buried personal demons to a centuries-old secret that surfaces in the heat of the action, Simple Genius pulses with stunning, high-intensity suspense. The heroes of Split Second and Hour Game are back as you've never seen them before.

Good Read

Good read. Baldacci does a good job at character and plot development. VERY well read. There were some redundant and extraneous parts, but overall, a good story with plenty of twist and turns. Recommended.

Very Baldacci - gripping

The story does not disappoint. I appreciated some of the characters. (For example, there is a young girl in the book who's a genius in numerical factoring - her story emerges slowly within the wider story). It's not a deep book but a good Baldacci read. I don't always like Scott Brick (I do sometimes); he did a good job with this book.

1st Audio Book...

This is my 3rd Sean and Michelle book, 1st by audio and I will definitely buy the next one (anyone know it is coming out) if the reader is the same. This gentleman was excellent! The book itself is great as this writer just gets better and better!

A Little Slow in Spots

Its just a tad drawn out for my taste. i noticed how the narrator inserts which character was speaking more, which became a distraction from listening. For example, short sentences in a conversation had more "Sean remarked" and Horatio said"

I really enjoyed this book

What made the experience of listening to Simple Genius the most enjoyable?

From the introduction until the final page, I couldn't stop listening. I have read many of David Baldacci books and I found this one the most enjoyable with non-stop action.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

It usually takes me a week to listen to the books, since I only listen in my car. I had to buy a speaker for my I-Pod so I could listen everywhere.

Which character – as performed by Scott Brick – was your favorite?

Roby was really on his game. Scott makes him come alive.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Don't often get to see the soft side of assissins, but Scott pulled it off.

Any additional comments?

As soon as I finished this book, I had to go online and order another Balducci.
