Publisher's summary

Murder. Scandal. Politics. And one billionaire heiress so dangerous in so many ways. An explosive Lucas Davenport thriller from number one New York Times best-selling author John Sandford.

All hell has broken loose in the capital. An influential state senator has been caught with something very, very nasty on his office computer. The governor can’t believe it - the senator’s way too smart for that, even if he is from the other party. Something’s not right. As Davenport investigates, the trail leads to a political fixer who has disappeared, then - troublingly - to the Minneapolis police department itself, and most unsettling of all, to a woman who could give Machiavelli lessons in manipulation. She has very definite ideas about the way the world should work - along with the money, ruthlessness, and cold-blooded will to make it happen.

Another Good Lucas Davenport Story

What did you love best about Silken Prey?

I always like the characters that Lucas Davenport has for friends. This story is entangled as usual but the second story with Kidd has drawing power of its own. The drama is written in such a way that you really want to find out how Lucas untangles the situation.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Lucas is always a favorite because he is highly intelligent and driven to succeed. His family and friends make him a caring and loving person even in his pursuit of the evil of others.

What does Richard Ferrone bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Richard Ferrone needs to learn to pronounce the names of cities and towns in Minnesota. He takes away from the story by mispronouncing these names for those of us who know how to say them.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No, it didn't although I did worry about the outcome for some of the characters as they made bad decisions.

Classic Davenport

Not overly twisty. More straightforward than many other Davenport novels. okay characters. Dialogue better than normal.

Great Read

This is another very fine John Sanford, Lucas Davenport novel. With a backdrop of political greed, murder, and the Democrats as the bad guys - it just can't get any better.

Absolutely Marvelous Book

What did you love best about Silken Prey?

A new twist for the Prey books in that it featured more intrigue rather than the normal chop em up/cut em up storylines.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Absolutely. This was definitely a "can't stop listening" book.

Have you listened to any of Richard Ferrone’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Ferrone is one of the best. He seamlessly shifts between characters and makes each entertaining.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I think discovering that Kidd and Lauren were not what they appeared to be.

Any additional comments?

This is one of the best by John Sandford. I have always thought the Prey books were just so so and enjoyed the Virgil Flowers books much more. This book however, has made we impatient for the next Prey book.

Excellent Read/Listen

Another good captivating story line by John Sanford. Interesting how as we move through time he keeps it current and with the news of the that time frame.

Definitely one of my favorites, I loved the side, story with kid and Laura. So happy it ended the way it did. And I hope that storyline continues to make appearances.

one of the better Prey's

I like the PREY novels for several reasons. I like, for example, the companionable ways in which the police work together -- as distinct from the angst-ridden, loner-detective at odds with all fellow cops and especially his superiors. And this is one of my favorite PREY novels. The villains are more nearly recognizably human than are some of Sandford's villains.
