Publisher's summary

Murder. Scandal. Politics. And one billionaire heiress so dangerous in so many ways. An explosive Lucas Davenport thriller from number one New York Times best-selling author John Sandford.

All hell has broken loose in the capital. An influential state senator has been caught with something very, very nasty on his office computer. The governor can’t believe it - the senator’s way too smart for that, even if he is from the other party. Something’s not right. As Davenport investigates, the trail leads to a political fixer who has disappeared, then - troublingly - to the Minneapolis police department itself, and most unsettling of all, to a woman who could give Machiavelli lessons in manipulation. She has very definite ideas about the way the world should work - along with the money, ruthlessness, and cold-blooded will to make it happen.

A truly evil woman - can Lucas catch her?

One of the best of the Lucas Davenport books, and they are all great. Taryn Grant , a beautiful and rich woman, is running for Senate and she will do anything to win, including planting child porn on her rival's computer. Even worse, she will murder anyone who creates a threat. Lucas sees her for what she is and wants to apprehend her, but he has no proof. Can he find proof? Can he catch her and her conspirators? That is the story and it is a very good one. Kept me on the edge of my seat in an almost non stop listening session.

I love anything John Sanford's written

As usual. Loved it. Definitely love the interaction between the characters. Any author that can use "weenie" in a sentence is my hero 👍

Gold stuff!

Haven't been disappointed yet. These are really good books and pairing them with Richard Ferrone makes it even better.

Vintage Prey

What made the experience of listening to Silken Prey the most enjoyable?

It's a great new Lucas Davenport story. The kind of story you can wrap yourself in a blanket, curl up on the couch and listen to to the very end.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Lucas, of course!

Any additional comments?

You know you won't be disappointed when the story line follows Virgil Flowers or Lucas Davenport.

Another predictable Gem

Love Sandford and enjoy his writings to the point of not caring about the depth of the storyline.

once again

I thought I was going to have trouble liking this story. It took a few chapters to get into it, but then I couldn't put it down.

Huge Fan

I’m a huge fan of Sandford’s writing - great stories and conversation and dry humor that make me feel like I’m in the story with all these people. Also love Richard Ferrone - he is the voice of thrillers in my mind!

My Favorite

I have a history of Prey, Flowers and Kidd books. Silken Prey is my go-to and I think it has the most interesting characters and best plot of the Sanderson library.
Candidate Grant, her campaign staff, Sen. Smalls and the interplay of the BCA, Governor Henderson and story line are so well done that the few nits are completely made insignificant to the development of the plot to its culmination.
All the familiar players are here and the audible performance does them justice without going overboard. I have close relatives from Duluth and they would enjoy the subtlety of the Upper Midwest. The language and idiom are both familiar and natural.
For the present, this is a timely point of view of state politics, without much exaggeration, unfortunately. Money rules and the complications of differing interests are presented in a ‘winner takes all’ fashion.

Redemption

The previous few were a bit predictable. This was awesome. Plenty of twists and turns.

The gang's all together again!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes. If you like the Prey series, this is one of the best.

What did you like best about this story?

The incorporation of all of Sandford's characters...from Davenport and the BCS gang to Kidd, who we haven't heard from in a while.

Which character – as performed by Richard Ferrone – was your favorite?

Richard Ferrone is Lucas Davenport...I couldn't imagine any other voice as Lucas.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Lucas figured out that Kidd and Lauren were involved and let them know that he knew.

Any additional comments?

Great writing and performance by Richard Ferrone. Could be my favorite Prey book.
