Publisher's summary

At first, they look like suicides. Two bodies within a week - one found floating in New York's East River, another electrocuted in the bathtub. But forensics show that the victims were drugged, then killed. As the death toll grows, so does the brutality of the murders - and the killer dubbed the Flesh Collector continues to prey.

NYPD profiler Lee Campbell joins the frantic pursuit of a murderous madman who delights in taunting police with gruesome messages. Somewhere in the killer's terrifying handiwork lie the clues to his twisted psyche. But the case is growing disturbingly personal. Getting close enough to stop the monster means getting close enough... to die.

Critic reviews

"Silent Scream is so compulsively readable, you won't just tear through the pages, you'll scream through them." (Chris Grabenstein)
"What sets C.E. Lawrence’s thrillers apart from so many others is the shrewd and savvy psychological portrayal of characters at times of extreme stress. Whether heroes or villains, victims or victors, C.E. Lawrence’s characters are as real as the world we live in. If you like thrillers with plenty of action and suspense, along with unforgettable characters and vivid settings, check out C. E. Lawrence. I’m glad I did." (New York Times best-selling author John Lutz)
"Lawrence provides surprises and bumps in the night and day, even while assembling a cast of characters who are by turns odd, quirky and memorable. I simply cannot wait for her next book....Lawrence's ability to create flawed and memorable characters and to take a familiar plot in unexpected directions has me hooked." (Joe Hartlaub, BookReporter.com)

Silent Victim

An okay plot if a bit over the top. Listening was tedious given the nasal quality of the narration and the speech affections of the narrator. The speech patterns of the the various characters were done well enough but it was hard to listen to the overall narration. I listened through to the end but it was only because I hoped the plot would save the book. The narration shouldn't detract from the book being read. I'll definitely think twice before ordering another book by the same narrator.

Liked the narrator, but found story lacking

I was bored by the characters and found them to be a poor copy of other fictional characters with similar positions, a police psychologist and a grouchy detective.

Dreadful

I tried to give this one a chance, but writing was so poor on this one I just couldn't listen to it.
