Interesting
First, it's a brilliant idea. But the execution seemed to be missing something. I wasn't enthralled and I did see a lot of the twists coming.
But here's what is interesting. I'm not sure if I liked it or not. Seriously.
So, 3 stars. I would not discourage anyone from buying this book. Nor would I try to talk you into buying it.
It is amusing. And sometimes, that's enough. Right?

This audiobook was great. There were times when I couldn't stop listening. I had seen the movie first, so I kinda knew what to expect, but as usual the book was in greater detail. Some of the language I could have done without. Over all I would listen to this again and have recommended to friends. Audiobooks are great for long trips, or "rush hour" traffic (only if you have the plug in to listen in your car)

Not my fmost favorite
I love Dennis Lehane's books but this one was not in that list. I had to force myself to finish this. Even though this is a series, I don't think I liked it enough to get the rest of the books in the series. If the editing was good, such as shortened some of the sections, such as "tag, you are it". I didn't find some of the details relevant to the plot. I think, it would not have been so dragging.

Gripping. Couldn't stop listening.

Wow...
I love books that give you something to think about long after you read it. This book is filled with so many intricate parts that I do believe it takes multiple reads, just as the movie requires multiple viewings to really grasp the story. The narration is perfect. Great character voices and great narration voice. Stechshulte really made this an enjoyable listen. I have my own viewpoints on what is really going on here, but I love the fact that the story can be debated so strongly. Masterful writing by Lehane. This is now one of my favorite books, and the movie is one of my favorite movies. Fully recommended!!
