An amusing and well narrated novella set in modern times with an arrogant Holmes, clueless Watson addicted to working mysteries with Sherlock yet often apologizing for him, and a strange case at a ski resort in Germany.
I don’t know why so many pastiches have Watson extra critical of Holmes. I guess it’s hard to catch the essence of the original characters and their friendship unless that’s not what these authors are going for.

It was certainly different to have Sherlock and Watson in modern times - Sherlock using a laptop and a mobile phone, Watson with a girlfriend. Many other things ( Mrs. Hudson, Moriarty, Mycroft) were still the same. Mystery was decent and the performance was very good.

This was an unexpected story. The author brought Holmes and Watson into the year 2012. While I enjoy seeing The Great Detective outside his usual milieu, but this never felt authentic.

The narrator did a solid job, and didn’t cause me to shake my head in wonderment.

So this is a 50/50 recommendation from me. You night like it, and it might not be to your taste.
