Scared the Pants Off Me

If you could sum up She Just Looks Like That in three words, what would they be?

scary addictive engrossing

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Things just kept happening to the protagonist. Her normal looking life came apart piece by piece as she worked to figure out why people kept kiling themselves.

What about Ashley Ulery’s performance did you like?

She brought the story to life.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Worse that your worst nightmare, because you can't even dream this stuff up.

Any additional comments?

It's not overly gory even though it talks about violent acts. Be ready for a family that is dysfunctional below the surface, medical people that aren't trying to cure anyone, an uppity person that loses their tall and an ending you aren't predicting. It is sexy in places but it's real -- it doesn't have supernatural or fantasy stuff. It's like the worst things that could actually happen. In the middle of it all, a sweet cat, best friends, a psychiatric hospital, a police department and a girl who's trying to find her way. I've got to listen again to see how many clues I catch the second go round. This seems to be the author's first novel but the red herrings, plotting and character development are very professional. She focuses on the characters while giving you just enough scene to build the picture in your mind. A must read if you like thrillers or suspense!

Unimaginative, absurdly plotted, and poorly read

What would have made She Just Looks Like That better?

A decent writer who understands written English

Has She Just Looks Like That turned you off from other books in this genre?

I still enjoy mystery/thrillers but will NEVER read or listen to a book from this author. I cannot imagine how it got onto an Audible list of available books as it is amateurishly, written to the extreme. Plot lines are laughable (a character is believed to have committed suicide by cutting her own hand off with a saw and then cutting off her arm-PLEASE.

As a retired English teacher I can say with authority that have taught adolescents who could have written a better book. This book should never have been an Audible.com selection..

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Her voice was flat, her pacing was off and she was not professional

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment, a feeling of having been taken- I would like my money back
