Some things are best left unseen...
Welcome to Harborsmouth, where monsters walk the streets unseen by humans...except those with second sight, like Ivy Granger.
Ivy Granger's second sight is finally giving her life purpose. Ivy and her best friend Jinx may not be raking in the dough, but their psychic detective agency pays the bills - most of the time. Their only worry is the boredom of a slow day and the occasional crazy client - until a demon walks through their door. Demons are never a good sign...
A demon attorney representing the water fae? Stranger things have happened. And things are about to get very, very strange as a bloodthirsty nightmare hunts the city of Harborsmouth.
There's blood in the water...kelpies have a reputation for eating humans. Unfortunately, kelpies are the clients. When an Unseelie faerie this evil stalks the waterways of your city, you have to make hard choices.
The lesser of two evils...

Yes. This is such an enjoyable read and a great introduction to the Ivy Granger series.
The plot was sufficiently fast paced to keep me hooked and it really picked up the pace towards the end.
Yes. She is such an awesome Ivy and knows how to grab the readers.
Ivy is so snarky that it's impossible not to snicker during the book, so yes, I had a good few laugh out loud moments.
Shadow sight introduces us to the snarky and kick ass heroine Ivy Granger. When she touches an object she can "read" that object. She doesn't know why or how she has the gift but she learns to deal with it. She opens her own Detective Agency and has the name to investigate the weird.
Ivy is such an awesome character and I loved her wit and sass. I can't wait to read more in this awesome world and look forward to the next book.
This was fun listen. Ivy is a psychic detective with second sight. She see's the monsters for who they are and can't touch anything without seeing its past. She lives in Harboursmouth where plenty of creatures mingle in the streets.
When a demon walks into her and best friend Jinx detective agency her life gets even crazier. He's been hired by a type of Fae when their king disappears. They want her to find an item of his. In her search she gets distracted and doesn't spend a lot of time looking for it instead she spends more time warning other supernaturals and gaining their assistance.
It was another type of Fae who kidnapped the other's king and they are ruthless and ready to attack Harboursmouth. This is a fun book.
It started a little slow but picked up after the first few chapters. Where I kept getting lost was her in depth descriptions of all the various types of Fae and other monsters. I really just needed to know about the ones directly involved with the story not every one she saw and it's history etc. I adore the author's imagination but trying to keep track of them all was a brain blast that detracted from the actual story. Sometimes less is better.
I enjoyed listening to the narrator and think she was a good fit for the story.
I recieved this book free through Audiobook Boom.
I am a wee bit over the half a century mark in years. I enjoy audiobooks, cats, rats and most days my family, not necessarily in that order!lo
Good 1st book in a series.I enjoy Ivy's exploits as told by Traci Odom. She does a nice narration.Ivy is a psychic detective.Se works and lives in a city full of monsters,Fae,all otherworldly beings. She is called in when they need assistance.her side kick 'jinx' is a kick ass kind of girl.A fun read. This audiobook was provided to me at no cost for a fair and honest review.
Currently listening to some fun Murder Mystery and Self- Help. Please don't let that worry you.
Traci Odem did an amazing job bringing these characters to life. I really enjoyed and look forward to listening to more in this series. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.
Because tales should be told.
Yes, because the author fills this book with a ton of fairy lore. It is impossible to catch it all the first time through.
I haven't heard this narrator before, but I will definitely listen to her material again. She gave an excellent performance. She brought each character to life and gave each of them unique voices.
When Ivy meets a unicorn in the hilltop church. That is a creative and well-written scene. The scenes between the Brownie Fairy Hobs and Ivy are also entertaining.
This book would not lend itself to film. It is very detailed. It is a little like a fairy encyclopedia. The action of the book does not start until 2 hours into the story. That is when Ivy takes her first demon client. This is not an action oriented story and Ivy sees visions. She does not fight or really do much. The story is interesting, but it moves at a slow pace. There is a lot of time spent setting the scene.
I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review from the narrator, producer, or author. Interesting book that is worth reading.
I read all kinds of books, but I have an obsession with paranormal and fantasy at the moment. Sorry about any spelling mistakes/typos.
I loved all the creatures, in fact there were only a few humans. The descriptions were interesting and created a vivid picture of the being.
All of them! Traci is one of my all time favorite narrators and she proves why with this book. Excellent character voices and a lovely consistent sound, what's not to like?
I would have but once again having to work got in the way, if only I didn't need money to live!
I loved this book! Ivy is so likeable and many f the non-human beings break out of their stereotypical roles, which makes things much more interesting.
Fingers-crossed, book 2 is already available.
Note: I was provided this audiobook at no charge by the narrator in exchange for an unbiased review via Audiobook Boom.
This was a good listen. The pace was steady without any dull spots. Narration was excellent. I think this will be an interesting series.
I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.
I am addicted to books. Nothing makes me happier than crawling inside a good book.
All the unnaturals coming together for a common cause.
I wonder if the Pookah ever got their shiny house and jar of honey along with the missing ring. I didn't expect to like this book as much as I did but I crawled inside it and enjoyed every moment. I was provided this audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator in exchange for an unbiased review via Audiobook Boom.
Really loving audiobooks, this has been the year of the audio for me. Huge booklover all the way around from romance to horror. :)
I loved all the fun characters.
This was my first time listening to this narrator and I thought she did a fantastic job.
Why did I wait so long to try this series! It sucked me in and I just couldn't quit listening. If I could have I would have listened in one setting.
Ivy has this ability to have visions when she touches things, because of this she avoids physical contact as much as possible. It also helps her become a detective of sorts to help humans as well as fae. Kelpies pray on humans but this time they are the ones being preyed upon as they king as been kidnapped. She find out there is something much more dangers than kelpies in the waters of Harborsmouth.
I like Ivy she is a great character though a bit flawed. She has some fun and interesting friends. My favorite is the young troll.
Blogger, audiobook lover, and all around cool chic!
Ivy Granger is a Private Investigator for Second Sight with her best friend Jinx. Ivy has the gift of Psychometry (creating visions by touching objects), which is a very helpful tool for her when on a case. Ivy is hired by a Demon to help a clan of Kelpies in desperate need. In order to begin, she seeks the help of her long time friend and most powerful witch, Kay. Can the two of them together win the battle of a lifetime?
The world that Ivy lives in is very complex. I appreciate the detail in the world building with all the various species involved. The "magic system" (as my good book clubbin' friends like to call it) used in this story seems to be the standard I've seen in other magic-based stories. The characters that took a bigger role in the story were hilarious at times, and a very unexpected humor at that! As I followed Ivy through the case, building her army of misfits, I started to figure out, "Oh shit, this is going to be huge!" When the final scene starts to unfold, I was glued to my spot, listening intently as the battle began! Shadow Sight was a great start to a new series that I look forward to reading, or shall I say listening to!
Traci Odom did a great job telling Ivy's story! I am familiar with Traci from Blood Destiny Series by Connie Suttle. Traci is an excellent story teller, giving you the correct inflection at the right time! I truly enjoy her voice and love that she is the narrator for this new series I plan on following. I rate Traci with 4 stars, good job Traci!
