Publisher's Summary

An unpayable debt. A shrinking economy. A nation divided. What is the price needed to prevent civil war? What if the United States can no longer pay that price? Rick Savage finds himself in the middle of a power struggle that could spell the end of the United States. His extensive research leads him to one grim prediction: civil society will all but cease in seven days. He now has only a week to save who and whatever he can before the world descends into chaos.

I don't have a bunker and I would starve in 2 1/2 days, but I like to listen to people who do and wouldn't.

"You WILL NOT find better, WILL NOT!"
If you could sum up Seven Days in three words, what would they be?

    Do not hesitate!

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

I have a considerable library; this, in all aspects, is on top of my list as best yet. Storyline, narration, character development and interaction, are easily the best I've had the pleasure to experience.

What about John McLain’s performance did you like?

He was born to narrate, easily the best I've heard.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I can't say, I don't want to ruin the experience.

    Any additional comments?

You need this selection, it will set a new standard for all man made armagedden storyline enthusiasts, I guarantee it!

    "WELL DONE"

This was very well written, easy to imagine what was taking place and had me on the edge of my seat a lot of the time. All of what occurs in the book I could totally see happening with people reacting similarly when faced with the world going crazy, the United States collapsing and trying to figure out how to survive through it all. The author did a great job of integrating cool technology and information into the story. I felt like the narrator was a bit dry at the beginning, but it gets so much better a few chapters in and he does a fantastic job of going in and out of different characters. The whole time I was listening I kept thinking that I could totally see this being made into a movie. Well done.

    "Great Book"

Well written, characters developed appropriately, story line keeps you looking to see what's next. The perfect read/listen I had a terrible time putting it down to go to work.
This author and narrater do excellent jobs trully looking for the next from this author and hope the same narrater does the book.
You will enjoy it, very little bad language as well which is really nice, I get tired of the foul language that poor authors "always use" to try and make their book[s] exceptable.

    "Awesome story!!"

This book grabs you at the beginning and doesn't let go until the end. Not tedious like some books. Only thing that was a bit annoying were some of the voices, but after a bit you get used to them. I will definitely buy more of this author.

    "Religion Lesson"
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

I would never have purchased this book if the description made clear that this story was one big religion lesson.

    Story
    "did not disappoint."

Seven Days by Sterling Nixon is a thriller set in the future America where the government is collapsing. With the country set to fall apart, a drastic event forces everyone to shift to survival mode. Rick Savage, a former CIA operative, finally gets to put his survivalist inclinations to use, when he sets out to save his brother, Issac, a pastor and a slowly building community.

I thought this novel was gripping and did not disappoint. While the beginning was slow, the plot picked up quickly and was complex. There were a lot of diverse characters with different strengths and weaknesses that help keep the survivalist community going. Ultimately, I felt that this novel was more about how communities of people come together in hard times than anything else. Additionally, I felt that the real relationship that the novel was centered around was between Rick and Issac. The two of them look at how to survive is dramatically different ways. It was compelling to watch them come to compromises that would allow them to survive but also retain humanity. The hard times in this case were when survivalist training is needed.

The political backdrop of the novel is a great motivation for the events that occur and provide the reader with some context. I would love to have gotten more context about what was happening to some of the peripheral characters. It also would have been great to get insight into the national situation throughout the novel and at the end. Overall, the book was fantastic and exciting. I loved the different characters and the author was able to evoke emotion from me, which I really appreciate in a novel. The end of the novel was rewarding, if a little predictable.

The narrator, John McLain, did a fantastic job with the different characters. I believed that the characters were different and some of the accents were decently done. I especially liked the voicing for the character Chaz, who goes through a dramatic change, and his voice changes with him. The production quality was great.
