I think I liked it?!?

The story, while interesting, was fairly slow and not what I've come to expect from Mitch Rapp.

However, it could have just been the narrator. I've listened to hundreds of audio books and quite literally Ken Kilban has to be the worst. From his lack of tone, mispronounced words, incorrect enunciation...I could go on and on. Let's just say it's bad.

I finally upped the narration speed and just powered through it so I can move on to the next book in the series. I'm praying for a different narrator.

Terrible narration

What made the experience of listening to Separation of Power the most enjoyable?

The story is very good as are all the Mitch Rapp series books

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The voice and inflection of the narrator is very distracting and nothing like you'd expect from the characters in the Mitch Rapp stories.

Any additional comments?

Please don't use this narrator again for Mitch Rapp books!

Great book, meh narrator

My approach to reviews... I’m not a critic or book snob. I listen to escape and be entertained. I don’t care about character development and anything else that critics complain about. Great story, I enjoyed more of the characters being involved. The narrator or for this one brought almost a silly or comical tone to the book. I wasn’t impressed, he grew on me, but still. Silly and comical aren’t what I’m looking for. I realize everyone can’t be Jay Snyder or George Guidall (two of my favorites).

Tough one to get through

The book had merit. The challenge was the narration was a little weak. The plot was run on a emotional and non-tactically balanced. Hope the next one is better.

Great story, horrible narrator

Would you consider the audio edition of Separation of Power to be better than the print version?

Normally yes. I listen to these in the car, at the gym, or at home alone. The ones done by
George Guidall are outstanding -dramatic, suspenseful, exciting. This one is like listening to someone read the tax code aloud. He may be fine for history or business books, but not this type.

Would you be willing to try another one of Ken Kilban’s performances?

Not in this genre.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No. I didn't really want to finish it at all.

Any additional comments?

Stick with George.

Horrible narration

I found myself getting so irritated I couldn’t concentrate. It’s the worst narration I’ve ever been subjected to. In order to finish I had to change to 1.5 speed and even then I kept checking to see how close it was to being finished so I could escape this maddening narrator and move onto the next book.

Mehhh

This was my least favorite so far (going in order.)
The story was decent but seemed to lose me several times to where I had to rewind a minute or so to catch what I missed. I think a lot of that may have been to the information overload detailing history and weapon specifics. Also I know it has been mentioned in many reviews but the narration did not fit the genre in my opinion. After reading multiple reviews claiming near the same in more direct language, I determined to champion the narrator and give him the benefit of the doubt. He is a great narrator with many character voices, but more fit for say the fantasy genre, not this action thriller.

Great writing spoiled by audio reader

This book was interesting, full of action and intrigue. unfortunately this reader is just WRONG for these characters. the reader sounded pompous and judgemental with every character.

First book I have ever returned...

I made it through 4 chapters before returning the book, reading an online summary and moving on to the next George Guidall narration (in chronological order) Executive Power. And in case you are wondering, George does narrate the next 10 books in chronological storyline order up until Enemy of the State. George returns for Red War and Lethal Agent, and we hope Total Power when that recording is produced.

Love Mitch, hate Anna

I will always wonder if Flynn purposely made Anna so annoying so that we would all be happy when he finally kills her off in a future book. Narration wasn’t great but not as bad as some of the reviews say. I love all of Vince Flynn’s books despite Anna Reilly.
