Unsatisfactory reader

Would you try another book from Vince Flynn and/or Ken Kliban?

Another Vince Flynn book yes, but not if it is read by Ken Kiban.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

I read all Vince Flynn's books when they came out, so these audios are a "years later review."

What didn’t you like about Ken Kliban’s performance?

Mr Kilban's diction is outstanding. However, his style makes him either shouting or whispering--therefore the volume is either too loud or too soft.

Could you see Separation of Power being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Probably, but with a star who looks more like Mitch Rapp rather than college freshman as the present one does.

Okay book. Extremely bad naration.

What made the experience of listening to Separation of Power the most enjoyable?

The fact that this is the first and last book read by this narrator.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Ken Kliban?

Both other Mitch Rap narrators, George Guidall and Nick Sullivan did a way better job. Ken Kliban seems to completely miss some dialogs mood and seems to have no grasp of the context of the book. This novel is a mix between a political and espionage thriller but it's being read to me as a mix between a Grim fairy tale and the autobiography of a roman emperor. I would seriously vote to redo this book with either one of the other narrators. Even just to bring more continuity to the series and avoid people dropping out, which I'm seriously considering.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Being extremely annoyed about the narators flawed reading "The commander of Seal Team. (long pause) Six."

Any additional comments?

I interrupted my listen to write this negative review. It's my first one. I'm not sure if I continue this book or just skip to the next in the series or even abandon it altogether.

Great Story questionable choice for voice talent

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Yes, generally speaking. I'm into the series and had to do it. Other than that as a stand alone I probably would have continued on the strength of the story..PROBABLY.

What did you like best about this story?

Pacing, continuation immediately from the previous. A bit dated now with some of the players but that will happen. Not a negative from that perspective really.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Where to start. I'll struggle to say much different from the others but lets just put it this way: The narrator may be talented in other areas of art but this is not his cup of tea. NOT AT ALL. EVERY character sounded the same, whiny and angry. To the point I dad to work hard to delineate between any of them other than one, and surprise it was the most whiny and angry character in the book. THAT voice he was perfect for. VERY many technical words mispronounced - often, false excitement where not needed, false anger when not needed. Horrible rendition of the leads voice, totally wrong, Female characters were very very bad.

Will say after chapter 41-42 evened out some but this guy was a chore to listen to. Just not a good choice, and any good QC team would have caught this. Don't know what they were thinking. That said, I'm through it and its done.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Yes

Any additional comments?

If you are like me and are doing the series in total, this particular story is good. It fits well with the others but the narrator is a REAL chore to get through. Should earn a credit for getting through it from Audible for anyone that managed to.

NARRATION A MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT

I'm into book 6 of this series and am a true fan of Vince Flynn. However, being the avid listener of all times, narration is truly important to me. George Guidall - wonderful, Nick Sullivan - tolerable, but if Ken Kilban was the narrator for the rest of this series, I would not spend my credits. I don't mean any disrespect but the narrator brings the book to life and Ken Kilban...not so much. His tone is ALMOST irritating. The story line is way too good to waste it on a narrator that diminishes it.

Good book but bad narration

Good book but the narrator was very irritating. Less 'action' than the previous ones but still keeps you guessing.

Great story, wrong narrator

What three words best describe Ken Kliban’s performance?

Whiny, whiny, whiny. Ken Kliban managed to take each character and throw a tone of whine into each voice. It was a much different tone than previous narrators had taken with each character. The book is still worth a listen, but be prepared for a much great whine factor in each characters voice.

Narration

This performance was brutal and almost caused me to abandon the book a number of times. Every character spoke with anger- it was draining and annoying.
