"Sorry, but I was very disappointed!!"
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I have read this series and listened to it in the distant past. I have also read and listened to the Brotherhood of War series in the distant past. I just completed listening to the Brotherhood of War again. Coming back to these stories is like going back home after many years to see old friends. They are "comfortable" stories for me. If you are looking for the big picture with regard to politics and history, these are not it. But W.E.B. Griffin does a stellar job describing all the little details like weapons, equipment, gear, and nomenclature. And how all of these things play into a soldier's everyday life. He also develops characters very well. I think that most men that have been around the military have met someone that makes you think of one of Griffin's characters.

What didn’t you like about Dick Hill’s performance?

After reading all of the other reviews, I realize that I stand alone in my opinion. And I mean absolutely NO disrespect to Mr. Hill. But I think that the producers did a very poor job of choosing Mr. Hill for this particular series. I think he is perfect for many other novels, but not these. I have been around many Marines, but none that sound the way he does. A man with a soft spoken, almost effeminate, New Joisy accent is "Killer" McCoy?? Really?? I know that McCoy came from New Jersey, but not everyone from there speaks that way. He joined the Marines out of high school at about 17. Most young men at that age take on the speech characteristics of those around them. Also, I am spoiled. The last time I listened to The Corps, one of the books was read by Gerald McRaney (I think - I have been unable to locate that anywhere). At the time, I remember thinking - this narrator sounds like a Marine. It made it much more enjoyable for me. Sorry if I've offended anyone, especially Mr. Hill, because I have really enjoyed some of the other narrations that he has done. I just didn't think this was a good fit for him, and that's not his fault.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

    Absolutely!

    "Great Series"

This is a great series of books. Historical fiction is not always very good. W.E.B. Griffin is the exception to that. Enjoy!!!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

This give a great history of the Marine Corps before and during World War II

What did you like best about this story?

It seamed like things that happened in the 1930's and 1940's in the Corps still happen today.

I listened to the whole series several years ago. The characters become so real that I've never completely forgotten them. An excellent series.

Excellent book. Love the series. Would prefer another Narrator whose voice would more accurately reflect the main character, Kenneth McCoy. Mr. Hill's voice seems a bit to old to accurately portray McCoy.

"Great book--hooked me for entire 10 book series"
Where does Semper Fi rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

One of the better I have heard, and made me want to continue the story with follow-on books in the series

What did you like best about this story?

Great combination of character development and history

Which character – as performed by Dick Hill – was your favorite?

Ken McCoy is probably everyone's favorite, but there are many good characters.

I read to escape. Classic sci-fi/military sci-fi/fantasy. It is all about the story. No deep thought, no dream sequences... Entertainment

"Great First Book- prior to series going downhill."
What did you love best about Semper Fi?

Strong characters. Just enough action and sex to make it enjoyable. Although that much rampant sexuality and love at first sight becomes a bit unbelievable after time. At times feels a little like a romance novel. I enjoyed the first 3 books in the series and then found I couldn't continue.

    "Soap Opera"

I bought three and read two in the series before I realized it's just a war-themed soap opera. It was interesting enough to have me buy up through the third in the series, but I'm done. I liked the narration/voices except when he tried to do women. Speaking of which, the 'hero' is always trying to do women. That got a bit old. Overall, I only recommend this series if you like soap operas.
