Mickey and his loyal new friends, sharp-witted Ema and adorably charming Spoon, once again find themselves in over their heads on the hunt for missing pieces to a puzzle they have yet to understand. "Teenagers save the day"
After a recent diet of heavy-weight biography and heart-rending realism an escapist novel like this was just the job. A pacy story, even if a bit far-fetched, as three teenagers get into extraordinary situations. I kept being reminded of Enid Blyton's Famous Five books of my childhood: youngsters free-ranging about the place with little adult supervision, exhibiting extraordinary resourcefulness and facing difficult moral dilemmas. The modern story is more complex and grittier with the teenagers in much greater danger, but the fantasy element is the same and enjoyable as such.
There are plenty of twists and turns to keep one listening and the denouement was a surprise.
The narrator does a good job.
I love audio books in preference to the written word as it adds to the story experience (as long as the sound effects are not added it with mood music - so annoying for us Hard of Hearing Peopl) I am dyslexic so don't have the luxury of switching to written books just in case anyone thinks to suggest that...lol
The Mickey Bolitar Series never lets you down, Harlan has kept the plot fresh and it s always exciting to see anew book out, and a pleasure to buy them. I feel I know the characters so well now it is almost like a Tv Show or Movie sequel, but FAR FAR better!
Great narrator on all his workson AUDIBLE, always enjoy his reading style and depth he adds to the books he reads.
Finding the truth can mean finding yourself.......
Keep them rolling Harlan, Don't put Mickey Bolitar away, even when you hopefully re-emerge with another Myron Bolitar installment. Great body of work, that just keeps growing in size with the quality level kept at a very high level, as always.
Thanks H.C. & E.M.
I would recommend this book to anybody who enjoys a good thriller, it was very easy to listen to and kept me guessing right to the end, which is what I would expect from a Harlam Coben novel.
Enjoy all of Coben's books. Have read all the 'myron' series and this one is just as good. Aimed for a younger audience though.
"Another Fantastic Audio Book from Harlan Coben"
I bought this after getting hooked by the Preceding Novel "Shelter". I was not disappointed.
The Novel is a superb sequel to Shelter, and follows on directly from the excitement of that first plot, in which Micky Bolitar, Spoon, and Eima (Emma), come together again for yet another fantastic journey together. I will not give too much away, since the combined Novels of Shelter and Seconds Away, deserve to deliver their excitement directly. Get them both. You will NOT regret it
I was so excited to see there was a second Micky Bolitar novel available - I was not disappoint. The book kicks off right after Micky's first novel ends. The story just continues and Micky, Emma and Spoon not only try and save yet another of their classmates but you also learn more about Micky's farher's dead. The narration is again unfaulting. I can't wait for the next instalment.
