Publisher's summary

The second crime novel by internationally best-selling writer Eoin Colfer is a gritty and utterly compelling follow-up to the critically acclaimed Plugged.

In Screwed, Colfer adds an entirely new chapter to the adventures and misadventures of Daniel McEvoy, the down-on-his-luck Irish bouncer at a seedy New Jersey bar who, with the help of a motley crew of unlikely characters, solved a bizarre string of murders - including the one of the girl he loved. But people around him continue to die mysteriously, and Daniel is called into action once again. Colfer, beloved by millions for his Artemis Fowl series, has written a riveting and relentlessly paced sequel that is sure to garner international praise.

With wildly inventive imagination and head-spinning plot twists, Screwed is a tour-de-force that rivals Carl Hiaasen at his very best.

Inspired narration

Any additional comments?

The book is very funny and the narration by John Keating is so pitch perfect it feels like it is being read by the author who happens to be a gifted Irish actor. Humor never had it so good.

pretty good

pretty good book. not my absolute favorite but defiantly not a bad read if I'm being honest. it was much more adult in nature than any other Eoin Colfer book I've read tho just a warning

Another great book by Colfer

If you liked Plugged you will like this one. The twist are just as intense and just as wild.

Great!

I've listened to this novel probably 4 times since I bought it a couple of months ago. Fantastic. Seriously great.

WALK AWAY NOW, NOT CHILD FRIENDLY!!! F*@# A MINUTE

What would have made Screwed better?

Don't say the F!@# word so much. Really must it be said five times in as many minutes/seconds? I understand trying to appeal to an adult audience but this is overkill. I wish I could trade it back in for another book. Even if I only got half value on the trade in. I used to be able to recommend Eoin Colfer unilaterally. Not any more! Very disappointed.

If it was book I would have drop kicked it into the fire place.

Would you ever listen to anything by Eoin Colfer again?

Anything but this series. Unless he has another as adult and vile as these. If you like the rest of his books YOU WILL NOT LIKE THIS ONE! I realize that all caps means yelling, my wife told me to calm down when I told her about it.

Which character – as performed by John Keating – was your favorite?

His depictions were well done, no real favorite. Probably the doctor.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

I must say John Keating is THE redeeming virtue of the performance. John Keating's was phenomenal, he nailed the accents. It was great! His depictions of flashbacks matched that of many vets I've spoken with.

Any additional comments?

Just walk away now. If you like the rest of his books, you won't like this one.

A good choice for Hiaasen fans

Great adult humor that reminds me of some Carl Hiaasen books. This and Plugged are two books for those who think Hiaasen has put too much of his politics into his recent books. I haven’t read Colfer’s Artemis Fowl books, but I understand you better stick with those if you are looking for family friendly. The narrator did a great job!

not my cup of tea ...

a bit yo crass and rambling for me. I really couldn't get into it. the reader was enthusiastic bit the story line and old school locker room humor just didn't get me into the book.

Laughing out loud

This took so much concentration so I didn't miss any of the back and forth banter between characters. This was a lot of fun and just down right hilarious to listen to.

They should Make it a movie

Hilarious, great performance remarkably entertaining.

The first person internal commentary of the protagonist is akin to Deadpool.

Loved this second book!!

I loved book one so much that I could not wait to start book two. With the exception of the ending, I LOVED THIS BOOK.

The amount of screwed that Daniel McEvoy is in is non-stop. He keeps getting deeper and deeper into things, all the while with that Irish cheek that makes his character so special. I loved everything about this listen except the ending. (The aunt's entrance and exit was confusing.)

The narrator is the center of joy for this listen. He's a perfect McEvoy!! I can't tell if there is a book three but I certainly hope so.
