About this listen

Abigail Sutton's beloved husband walks out one night, doesn't return, and two years later is found dead, a victim of a long ago crime. It's made her sympathetic to the missing and their families.

Starting her new life, Abigail moves to small town and buys a fixer-upper house left empty when old Edna Summers died. Once it was also home to Edna's younger sister, Emily, and her two children, Jenny and Christopher, who, people believe, drove away one night, thirty years ago, and just never came back.

But in renovating the house Abigail finds scraps of paper hidden behind baseboards and tucked beneath the porch that hint the three could have been victims of foul play.

Then she finds their graves hidden in the woods behind the house and with the help of eccentric townspeople and ex-homicide detective, Frank Lester, she discovers the three were murdered. Then she and Frank try to uncover who killed them and why...but in the process awaken the ire of the murderer.

The book was amazing. The author kept your interest to the last word. Usually I’m sure who the murderer is well before the end, but I kept changing my mind.

Spooky

It is good except that sometimes it goes to paranormal and that there is no suspicion toward the main masculin figure once the main plot is figured out. Still it is enjoyable

nice policier, if purchased on sale(spoiler alert!

I liked the story. It is a good mystery. I was able to figure out part of, but not all of the ending. I found it hard to engage due to the narrator. The voice grated on my nerves a bit. Others may not have the same issue I did with the narration. Listen to a sample before you purchase.

Good Story

Low key story of tangled lives in and a too idyllic town. Can sheriffs really be so dense?

Easy paced predictable

A touch of the paranormal, a strong mystery and a dollop of romance. I truly enjoyed this audiobook.

Heartbreaking and life-affirming at the same time

I LOVED this book!I did not want it t end! Abigails husband leaves one night and never returns. Two years later his car and body are found and Abigail decides to start over in a new town. She buys an old house and all of it's secrets, scandals and maybe a ghost or two.
Wendy Tremont King brings each character to life as the narrator. She was a perfect fit for this book.

The author presented a well-crafted enjoyable story. It kept my interest from the beginning until the end. There was mystery and a developing romance between Abby and Frank. What more is needed in a story? I will be listening or reading more by this author. The narrator did an excellent job of differentiating the many character voices.

Who murdered Emily, Jenny and Christopher?
